GOP Spokesperson: “Lets Hurl Some Acid” at Female Dems

Keep this story in mind if anyone suggests it is hyperbolic to call the political right in this country the American Taliban. Jay Townsend, campaign spokesman for Rep. Nan Hayworth (R, NY) responded to a question from a constituent about gas prices that was critical of his boss by suggesting the answer was to “hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators.”

For real.

It gets better. I mean worse. The comment was made on a Facebook page called NY 19 U.S. House of Representatives Discussion Center. The site encourages “civil multi-partisan discussion about issues impacting citizens of New York’s U.S. House District represented by Republican Congresswoman Nan Hayworth.”

Here’s the comment:

Listen to Tom. What a little bee he has in his bonnet. Buzz Buzz. My question today Ö when is Tommy boy going to weigh in on all the Lilly Ledbetter hypocrites who claim to be fighting the War on Women? Letís hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators who wonít abide the mandates they want to impose on the private sector.

I can’t imagine that is the kind of “civil” exchange of thoughts the creators of the discussion page had in mind. It would be bad enough if that kind of comment came from a private citizen. But let’s be honest. We’ve all read the comment section of internet posts and inflammatory comments are common. But this came directly from the campaign, from the spokesman of a sitting Representative in response to a question about gas prices that also was critical of current leadership.

This is the leadership of American right at its most naked anti-woman core. And there’s no sign its changing anytime soon

The Republicans have totally jumped the shark on any kind of reasoned dialogue regarding political issues. Republicans constantly rant about how Obama wants to create a "different: kind of America -- a socialist state where the government takes over everything! And yet, the Republicans, those advocates of small government, want to pass laws that control women's reproductive rights, define who can/cannot marry, deport millions of people, dictate sex education programs in high schools and create massive tax breaks for wealthy individuals/corporations. Talk about hypocrisy! Well, the Republicans want to create a different America also -- a very narrow, mean-spirited hollow country devoid of compassion.

Let's arrest the neo-con ultra right wing rabid fundamentalist Taliban for treason, off to Guantanamo for some compassionate waterboarding, Rise up the OWS 99% we won't take it anymore. Hell No, just don't let the rEPUGLISCUM take over the reigns of power in the USA.

People really do have to start reading, listening and take action to disavow this type of speech. You just never know who's out there that would take these words literally and throw acid at a woman they don't agree with.

Tony C. is correct, be informed, find out what id you need in order to vote and if you don't have it GET IT and, if the poor and disabled and others don't want to be turned away, then the churches, and private individuals will have to step up and help them get the id needed to be able to vote. Florida has passed some really tight laws right now and people there have got to be really vigilant.

Time to circle the wagons and prepare for a fight to the finish. This is going to be a really ugly election year.

Again, think, read, learn, question, respond, get involved.

The disturbing thing is that he would make that remark so apparently spontaneously and off-the-cuff. No apology can change the fact that he obviously spoke his mind exactly as he believed. Any retraction of his statement has to be viewed as disingenuous.

"Wow...I really hope he was not being literal there!"

These people are insane and hateful enough to do theses things just like they support the violence Palin preaches with her anti American campaigning.

The democrats need to get out and vote in this election and not pull what they did in 2010 by not voting . This may be the most important election the country has ever faced and we need a strong turnout to show the tea party and republicans where we stand.

America is dying and if the republicans gain power we are finished for sure.

When you try and vote the party of NO out you better make sure that you can vote. Some States have changed their voter registration laws so that even if you wanted to vote you won't be able to. PLEASE CHECK the voter registration laws of the States that you live in NOW, so that you can have the right ID when it comes time to vote. PLEASE tell ALL your friends about this, especially students, seniors, immigrants and the poor. I am sure that the 1% will be flocking to the voting booths so that they can retain their power and money. The 99% had better start THINKING about what will happen if the republicans get in again. For example, no contraceptives which will lead to more people. Right now 7 BILLION PLUS. No abortions even for sick babies, unwanted babies because of rape or incest. No Jobs, undrinkable water because of fracking, war with Iran, no health care. Abstinence programs only, which do not work and many others. Sex Education is needed so that unwanted pregnancy and abortion can be lessened along with STD’S that can KILL your child. So if you don't vote and get as many as you can to vote along with you and the republicans get into power this may and probably will happen. Here is an idea, car pool with a car full to the voting booths (saves gas) and after you vote, have a party and KNOW that you have done your best for your country. Have a designated driver. PLEASE REMEMBER, DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.
