Handsome the Emaciated Dog Gets a Hero

By Sara Anderson of Texas

Last month, a friend called frantic about an emaciated little dog that wandered up her stairs.  He was skin draped over bone.  At 5:30 on a Friday — what to do? I grabbed a towel, walked over and was appalled and in awe of his condition. Surely if we took him to a facility they would put him down, he was so weak and God only knows what lurked within.

So I decided to take him home, fatten the little fella up and then place him. Good Lord, what a project. He melts my heart with kindness and no fear — simply love and appreciation. He ate and slept snuggled in a warm bathroom for two days and then had the strength to walk around. Poor guy had been out and about for quite a while I suspect, during all the rain and cold.

It’s been a few weeks and now Handsome looks great, comes, plays, adores the kitten on the front porch and she in return.  He gives me enormous joy. See a photo of Handsome on the day he was rescued.

Thank God you found him or he found you, What a cutie I would have done the same thing. How can people do this to an animal we will never know, so cruel. The laws are just not strick enough for abuse/cruelty.

WOW....what horrible shape he was in but just look at him now! What a handsome little fella. I, too, would like to know if you've decided to keep him. At least he is safe and sound and looking much better now that he is not literally starving to death.

God Bless You and Handsome!

He looks like he's full of love! And I think he's really cool looking, and bless you for taking him in. And then I look at the before picture and want to hunt down whoever abandoned him. And have a word with him/her.
