Joe Walsh Releases Public Statement That He Is Not a Deadbeat Dad

Don’t call him a deadbeat dad anymore.  Illinois Rep. Joe Walsh has paid his debt to his ex-wife and family, and they have now made it public that the name calling is over.  “Having resolved these issues together and cleared up these mistakes in private, we now agree that Joe is not and was not a ‘deadbeat dad’ and does not owe child support,” they wrote in a statement. “We both have been loving and devoted parents to our children, ages 24, 21, and 17, and are happy to avoid a public legal fight hurtful to our entire family and look forward to caring for our children in private.”

Normally, when people are looking forward to keeping their financial and emotional caregiving of their children private, they don’t release public media statements.  But not so for Rep. Joe Walsh, a Tea Party firebrand known for his very, very public opinions on pretty much everything, including how President Barack Obama was only elected because he was black, and how his challenger, wounded former Iraq War Veteran Tammy Duckworth, only merits an “ehhh” when discussed as a rival on the trail.

Walsh at one point reportedly owed over $100,000 in unpaid child support to his ex-wife, claiming that he didn’t have the income to make payments despite loaning his own campaign funds to run for election.

But apparently that’s not being a deadbeat dad.  That’s being a fiscally savvy congressional candidate.

He won by only a few votes. He needs to become unemployed in November.

It's nice to know that things have straightened up for his ex wife & kids....but if this is the type of person that we want in political office it's no wonder society as a whole has turned to crap! Normally when a "man" (and I use that term loosely with Joe Walsh) is behind in child support actions are taken - losing their drivers license, losing tax refunds to cover overdue child support, and yes - jail time! It boggles my mind that this person was not only able to continue holding office, but that there appears to be NOTHING done as far as consequences for his inactions to pay his child support/spousal support before now! Joe Walsh is a JOKE.

Glad to hear he finally made amends to his ex-wife and children. What took you so long Joe. I guess wanting to be re-elected has something to do with him finally getting his act together with his faamily. Bet that money would have been more appreciated when you ex was raising those children by herself.

He just paid up because he is worried about Tammy Duckworth beating him. And, he should be worried. That money came from somewhere, like his campaign funds - illegal.

If not the Koch's he has a wealthy benefactor in Barrington Hills who financed his initial campaign. His ex doesn't care, as long as she got the check. When Tammy Duckworth takes his place we won't have to worry about the idiot any more.

Hmmmm, he just "magically" came up with $100k? I hate to be cynical but check the koch brothers check book, i would not be surprised if there was a "transfer of funds". Now that jackass has released a statement, its time for Illinois to RELEASE HIM!!

While he may not be a deadbeat dad (any more) he's no less the southern end of a north bound horse.

Definitely still a Dead-Beat Dad as far as I'm concerned! His poor kids having to be embarrassed by such an a**hole! No words!....
