Leaked Memo Reveals Wall Street Plot To Undermine OWS

MSNBC program “Up w/ Chris Hayes” recently obtained a memo from a well-known Washington lobbying firm to its client, the American Bankers Association, that reveals its fear of the growing Occupy Wall Street movement.

The memo is written on the letterhead of the lobbying firm Clark Lytle Geduldig & Cranford. In it, the firm proposes that for a mere $850,000, it will conduct “opposition research” on Occupy Wall Street in order to construct “negative narratives” about the protests and the politicians who support it.

According to the memo, if Democrats embrace OWS, “This would mean more than just short-term political discomfort for Wall Street. … It has the potential to have very long-lasting political, policy and financial impacts on the companies in the center of the bullseye.”

The memo also suggests that Democratic victories in 2012 should not be the ABA’s biggest concern. “… (T)he bigger concern,” the memo says, “should be that Republicans will no longer defend Wall Street companies.”

The memo also points out something even more terrifying than Obama getting re-elected: the idea that OWS and the Tea Party might stop bickering and realize they have more than one issue in common.

“Well-known Wall Street companies stand at the nexus of where OWS protestors and the Tea Party overlap on angered populism,” the memo says. “…This combination has the potential to be explosive later in the year when media reports cover the next round of bonuses and contrast it with stories of millions of Americans making do with less this holiday season.”

This memo proves what we’ve known all along: a unified 99% terrifies the 1 %. Big corporations, their Wall Street allies, and the politicians who profit off of their greed have been exposed for what they are: thieves and liars who deserve to pay the price for their crimes.

This memo also demonstrates that it is the desire of these criminals to keep the country divided and bickering. They want us to focus on small, petty, moralistic issues that have nothing to do with political policy or regulation. They want us to fight among ourselves so we won’t realize what’s really going on.

Oops, too late.

Micheal and Eddie, I think Mike C is his own man, not a paid "plant". He genuinely believes his company would not have survived if they had not went to China and in his defense, they did keep 100 jobs in the US. Yes as a CFO he has prospered from the arrangement and has some far right views, but there is a big difference with him and the other two paid prostitutes.

Mike C seems to represent his own views (which we may or not agree with), rather than being paid to disrupt. At 65 years old with a young nurse (student) bride he seems quite happy. And I don't begrudge him that, he says he stood by his wife untill she died...which is honorable.

Jeffrey is simply a smut selling opinionated pig that is not Christian (or any religion) and after being outed by Elisabeth, is rather impotent. He represents the Tea Party... so they are getting the dregs of society AND getting desperate.

Hi Michael C. - Thank you for this post, and while I suspect that no one can prove that Diane O. and Mike C. are plants, it does seem likely that this is the case, along with Jeffery. The great thing to me is that the more they post, the more they are exposing their greedy, hateful, un-American, perspectives, and to anyone with a brain and a heart, this would have to be very repelling.

Therefore, the more they say, the more they destroy any hope of people following them, unless these people are already part of the very greedy, super-rich, who also exchanged their hearts for MONEY, their one and only God.

I hope they keep up the great work of encouraging more and more people to support the common people, the 99%, rather than the very greedy of this country. It's very much like Bush, in that the more Bush illegally invaded Iraq and killed innocent people, the more people joined on to the Tali-ban. Bush never saw what he was doing, and I suspect these three never will do any self-reflection either.

Keep supporting what's: right, just, and fair, and I thank you for all your efforts, Eddie

Toby and Eddie, This Diane O is a plant, a disinformation officer for the 1%, possibly from the lobbing firm Clark Lytle Geduldig & Cranford.

The writings that you have had to endure, are an effort to control our discussion, to attempt to destroy your faith in OWS. Her handlers are afraid, as they should be, there will be a day of reckoning.

In the end, this Diane O is just wasting her time, her many arguments are quite transparent, just as she is and she is not alone, there is this fellow, Mike C.

These are people who declare that they are good Americans, yet one of them chose to take American jobs to China and to his sweat shop factory, all in the name of personal greed, disguised as need.

Marie Russell-Barker

We the People are the underdogs this is why we are the 99% the other 1% have all of the wealth we are not asking for your wealth we just want you to be fair and do your share of taking care of our Country just as we have we go to war, we are taxed we work for our living. We are not asking for any thing that we have not all ready earned as American we are asking you to give just as we have stop your greed stop you ways of holding up the our economy by not hiring or allowing those of us who are the 99% from gaining equality. We are a part of Occupy Wall Street.

Here's news the trolls SHOULD use:
"If Fox News viewers want to be informed about current events, they might as well turn off the TV.

A poll released by Fairleigh Dickinson University on Monday found that people who get their news from Fox News know significantly less about news both in the U.S. and the world than people who watch no news at all."
