Lilly Ledbetter On Why Equal Pay Matters [Video]

On January 29, 2009 President Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. Since then Republicans have vowed to repeal it.

In this video Ledbetter shares her story. It’s a powerful reminder of why equal pay matters, how far we still have to go, and what’s at stake in the upcoming presidential elections.

Go Lilly... go Lilly... go Lilly... There needs to be a law. If women stand against the injustice we'll get fired or not even hired.

equal pay for equal work is mandatory and the rates of pay need to increase to support the cost of living inflation.

My hubby and I work together toward a common goal- growing old together and supporting each other. We agree that Americans don't receive sufficient pay for their time whether male or female. And there surely is not a good reason for one to receive more pay for the same work. If a company can't provide equal pay, then maybe the worker provide a "real" company with a valuable worker!

@ John H. - "obama may have signed it but he still ignores it he pays the woman 18% less then the men in his administration and while he was a senator."

John, we've debunked this before. Why do you keep promoting lies or is that just the repugnant way? Again, per Civil Service regulations, people - men or women- of the same GS grade (i.e. GS-12) and step (i.e. step 5) get the same pay. If they have different GS grades, they do get different pay. Just like private industry - more male CEOs than women.

Here dumb ass:

There are slight variation due to locality pay and performance pay.

Vote Democrat
The Republicans' destructive social policies ENSURE there will be UNESCESSARRY SUFFERING AND DEATH.

The Republicans dehumanize their victims like rapists, and use evil social policy to callously murder the non-rich.

The Republicans know this, and actively CHOOSE to cause UNESCESSARRY SUFFERING AND DEATH.

A vote for the Republican party might as well be rape and murder by proxy.

The Democrats on the other hand have made good on some of their promises despite Republican barriers, and continue to advocate for the middle/poor classes against the Republicans' wishes.

It confuses me why any woman would vote republican with all the recent attacks on our rights as women to equal pay, contraception and choice.
