Obama Widens Lead in New Poll

President Barack Obama leads GOP challenger Mitt Romney by 10 percentage points, according to a new poll by the Pew Research Center.

According to the poll, Obama would win 51 percent of the vote to Romney’s 41 percent. 10 percent were undecided or supported other candidates.

The improvement for Obama was driven by an increasingly unfavorable view of Romney. According to the poll, only 37 percent of voters view Romney favorably, while 52 percent have an unfavorable view of him. Those numbers showed significant weakening from June, when 41 percent of voters viewed Romney favorably and 47 percent viewed him unfavorably. Obama is viewed favorably by 50 percent of voters, while 45 percent view him unfavorably.

Romney suffered through a series of gaffes in July, including a disastrous foreign trip. Romney has also been stung over attacks on his unwillingness to release more than a couple of personal tax returns.

Romney continues to struggle with women, trailing Obama 56-37. Romney and Obama are essentially tied among male voters, with Romney leading 47-46. Obama leads among voters under 30 by a 58-34 margin. The only age group Romney leads is voters over 65, who back Romney 49-45.

Romney is ahead with white voters, 51-42, but trails Obama badly among African American voters and Hispanic voters. Romney trails 70-26 among Hispanic voters, and a staggering 92-4 among African American voters.

Romney does lead, 49-43, among voters making more than $100,000 per year, but he trails significantly among voters making less than that.

The poll was conducted July 16-26, 2012, of 1,956 registered voters and 2,508 adults. The poll has a margin of error of ±2.8 percent.

Under Barack Obama, the U.S. economy has performed worse than it did under any other president since the end of the Great Depression. After every other recession since World War II, the U.S. economy always regained what was lost and got even stronger before the next recession began.

During this “economic recovery”, we have not even come close to getting back to where we were in 2008. In fact, the number of Americans living in poverty and the number of Americans that are dependent on the government both continue to explode even as Barack Obama runs up trillions of dollars of new debt. Anyone that believes that Barack Obama is going to “fix the economy” if he is given another four years in the White House has taken way too many sips of the Obama kool-aid. The truth is that Barack Obama is not going to save you. Barack Obama has royally messed up our economy (along with a lot of other things) and that is not something we should be thanking him for.
Yes, Barack Obama is not solely responsible for the economy. In fact, he does not even have the most influence over the direction of the economy.
However, if he had been willing or able to actually do what was necessary to fix the economy, he certainly had ample opportunity.
For example, the Democrats had full control of Congress during Obama’s first two years in office.
They were in a position to push through just about anything that they wanted to.
But just about everything that did get throug

Darla writes and hope that God helps the Country open their eyes to vote in the side that agrees on most issues that agree with the Bible.

America is not bible land Darla.

Darla writes This would get rid of Obama.

You know we train our children to give up their imaginary friends and grow up. Your god made it possible for Obama to become president. Now you pray for your god to get Obama out. When you pray Darla, for your god to make things different than the way god made them in the first place you are telling your god that you know better than god does.

Darla writes its just a fact the things he believes in and issues he works for are mostly against what God would want so I say get rid of him.

You claim to know what god wants. I think this is Darla talking, and not god. You cannot provide any facts to support your beliefs.

Darla writes I can not stand Obama, he is an idiot.
Really? Your god helped him get elected by your standards. Your god doesn’t exist except in your mind, but that is another discussion.

Darla writes Can not believe he was ever voted in office in the first place
Your god made it possible.

This would get rid of Obama. I do not know him personally so its not personal, its just a fact the things he believes in and issues he works for are mostly against what God would want so I say get rid of him.

To continue my above post: I knew from my COIN experience that it would have been possible to justify any one position on Vietnam depending upon what or whose COIN reports you selected. It is clear that Michael G. and Lee W. are primarily selecting historical references, on Bush, Iraq, and Afghanistan, that support their own biased, preconceived notion of what went wrong. I see no evidence that either Michael or Lee are military historians, and doubt that they have relevant national policy or combat experience. All they are doing is creating a major distraction at a time we need to be looking at Obama's national security mistakes/ plans, and evaluating Romney's ability to achieve U.S. national security goals. I suggest that we can wait for the professional military historians to disclose and document Bush's national security errors (and there were errors). To repeat myself for emphasis, let's focus on the immediate issue, Obama's and Romney's qualifications.
