Oxfam and New Pornographers Release BP Oil Spill Music Video

The BP oil spill happened a year ago this week, and although the cost and effects of the spill are still being tabulated, the media is virutally silent about the way the crisis is being handled in the Gulf.

The New Pornographers teamed up with Oxfam America to remind America that the Gulf Coast is still suffering in their new music video.

THe music video for the song “Sweet Talk, Sweet Talk” (from The New Pornographers’ album “Together”), was shot on Louisiana’s Gulf, and features local residents still reeling from the recent BP oil spill.

Join Oxfam and take action to make sure that businesses don’t just deliver “sweet talk” and respect people’s rights at www.actfast.oxfamamerica.org.

We are past peak oil already--so maybe that part of the problem will resolve itself--we will just plain run out whether we have developed a usable substitute or not. I would like to see bio-diesel from algae as a substitute for petroleum.

The great advantage big companies and bad politicians have over us is our short memory span: we tend to forget about issues - no matter how incenced we get - rather quickly! That's why, for instance, we need things like 'Remembrance Day' to keep remembering history's lessons. So we should have a 'Gulf War Day', a ' Hurricane Katrina Day', an 'Iraq War Day', a BP Oil Spill Day' and so on and so forth...

Media is the best way to help people understand the truth. Good job on the video.

Third party?[below] Unfortunately any third party options will result in a weak opposition to the republicans. They would love you to vote third party, that way they will win. There is a shadow in every state of a republican backed candidate waiting for an opportunity to slither in, plenty of money backing them. In Washington state even though very blue , we have Dino Rossi [I call him the bamdino] who never freaking goes away , runs regardless of never being elected and is a member of the republican governors association even though he's never been a governor and crys foul every time he looses. These guys are like a plague of rats so be careful not to give them any openings. Koch is now sending out political guides to its 50k employees with approved candidate list and ideology propaganda. Do be aware the threat is real.

The best bet is to vote in the primary and get a better dem in but even if Obama gets re elected he may have more freedom to act not worrying about another election. I think he may have learned a few hard lessons.
