Stand Up For Planned Parenthood [VIDEO]

The House has voted to defund Planned Parenthood, despite the numerous people, both male and female, who rely on the group as their sole source of health care and family planning.

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, in disgust over the House GOP’s agenda against women’s health, did not hold back when it came to attacking the Republican’s new priority to end family planning access for lower income women.

Via The Hill:

“This is a very dangerous situation for the health – the reproductive health – of women across our country,” Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol. “It’s degrading to women; it’s disrespectful; it doesn’t make any sense; and if you want to reduce the number of abortions in our country, you must commit to supporting contraception and family planning.
“Perhaps we have to have a lesson in the birds and the bees around here for [Republicans] to understand that,” she quipped.

A mother of five, Pelosi said the hours-long debate on the amendment Thursday night was “surreal.” She also challenged the qualifications of the mostly male Republican critics of federal funding for Planned Parenthood.

“I feel I have some credentials in this arena,” Pelosi said. “What standing do they have?”
But Pelosi isn’t the only congresswoman defending Planned Parenthood from misguided Republican attacks.  Watch the video below to see who else is standing up for Planned Parenthood, and what is at risk if this defunding effort succeeds.

We MUST get more women in the House and Senate...too many men with typical male egos and their brains between their legs w/o thinking bout the consequences...I'm amazed at the stupidity of some!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Erica - that video has been debunked. It was shot & edited to make you believe that Planned Parenthood helps pimps...the truth is that Planned Parenthood called the FBI on those guys -

Erica, the PP clinic may have called the FBI, but the counselor in the NY clinic was actually fired by PP management at that clinic; however, 4 other undercover videos revealed the same pattern of illegal counseling of minors, encouraging them to have abortions whenever needed in the pursuit of their "careers."
Also, a former PP clinic manager confirmed that it is standard PP abortion clinic practice to counsel minors to have abortions whenever necessary, to keep the #1 goal of Planned Parenthood alive, earning profits through their abortion mills.

I believe also in contraception; all men who do not want to father children should use condoms, or their wives/partners should use contraceptives; period. The blame does lie with both men and women, (and boys & girls) in this matter.

The "rich, self-serving extremist ideologues" in fact actually describe far more the supporters of Planned Parenthood and other other far left causes. The growing anti-abortion movement is fueled largely by middle class Americans, even growing numbers of minority groups, as nearly 40% of all live births among blacks in the US end in abortion. Planned Parenthood has yearly profits approaching one billion dollars, much of that from the killing of unborn children. Planned Parenthood supporters also have some very "deep pocketed" supporters, such as the Gates Foundation, many celebrities in Hollywood and in the music industry, many of which are "rich, self-serving ideologues..

This is an issue of profound public/economic concern that impacts every community in the us. As such, it is not an issue to be decided by a group of rich, self-serving extremist ideologues. This is an issue about which the best interests of the nation must be put ahead of the fanaticism of a tiny faction of the public that is disproportionately represented. This right-wing decision must be vetoed.

It is far more fiscally sound to provide birth control to the uninsured and those in poverty, than it is to support children born into poverty. I am so tired of fiscal conservatives who can't do math. Penny-wise and pound-foolish. It is their version of fiscal conservatism that drove our economy off a cliff - except for the super-wealthy they continue to get richer. Thank goodness we keep giving them tax breaks - look at all the jobs they've created over the past 10 years. Ayn Rand version of fiscal conservatism working it's magic - making the rich richer at the expense of everyone else.

I know people who for religious reasons would never have an abortion but have used Planned Parenthood services because they were newly married, self-employed, and uninsured. This allowed them to wait until they were insured and able to raise their children without financial assistance. The bankers give continue to give themselves multi-million dollar bonuses while we take more and more away from the poor and middle class. Third world America.

The more I read on this site, the more the US seems to be going backwards! Perhaps too many people have been influenced by watching 'Mad Men'.

Glenna,
Patricia is so against any of the middle and poor getting any benefit and is for all of the rich keeping everything. By her admission, she's not rich, but she subscribes to everything FUX tells her and never bothers to investigate anything beyond that. If Glenn, Sean, and Bill say it's so, then, by God!...it's SO!! She's a brainwashed OLD woman who is a Sarah Palin wanna be and will never be. She is also a former government employee who now gets a very good pension and great health care thanks to our taxes. But, she will defend her right to have these while demonizing the current government. Little does she realize that the GOP wants to take away her pension and benefits as part of their budget cuts. Let's see her defend them when they propose that...
