I know I’m the lone wolf on this one but if I had a teacher talk to me like that I’d want to drop out of school or at least his class. I didn’t find it encouraging or inspiring at all. I found it extremely irritating. He spoke as though if he weren’t there to kick your butt you’d just be a lazy loser hiding in a bathroom stall to avoid Algebra.

I love this; thank you so much. I strive to be this kind of teacher all the time; and what a great reminder of why we do what we do! Thanks again!

Thank you - I used to teach in Los Angeles in bilingual classrooms. I loved it but it was hard work because I made the students work. Teaching can be fun - but is not easy if you're good!

In the 1960's when I was in high school, public school teachers owned their own houses with a yard, and drove their own cars bought new. Now the teachers I know live in studio apartments and take the bus. Teaching seems to be one of those occupations that has fallen out of the "middle class", making teachers part of the lumpen of modern times. Sad.
