“The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United State

I repeat:

“The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States.”

Wow! I am totally speechless. Michael Sheuer, former head of the Bin Laden unit at CIA under Clinton and Bush, appeared on Glenn Beck’s show to criticize Obama’s use of unarmed National Guard soldiers to police the Mexican border. Whatever the efficacy of Obama’s policy may or may not be matters little to me at this time, I admit to having not reviewed it or given it much thought at the moment, because I am floored, no stunned, no blown the frick away that someone would categorically state that the only way for us to control immigration is for us to suffer a serious enough attack that our fears force us to call for a full military deployment on the Mexican border. Wow…seriously wow.

What’s more the idiot spouting this nonsense was the man in charge of keeping us safe from Osama Bin Laden in the past. Really?!! Hmm makes me wonder if he thought 9/11 was a good wake-up call for America too.

And what, is Glenn Beck not making enough money off of his exploitation of 9/11 by way of his 9/12 group? Maybe he needs us to have another really bad attack so he can exploit that one too?

How dare anyone actually wish for something as awful as that to happen and how dare Glenn Beck simply nod his head and say “which is why I was thinking this weekend that if I were him [Osama bin Laden], that would be that last thing I would do” i.e. it would be smarter for Osama bin Laden to not attack us because if he does the government would actually do something about the immigrant threat on our southern border… a threat Beck and his guest find so terrible that it trumps the pain and death that may be caused by a massive terrorist attack.

Fox News’ newest puppet has dared to insinuate that our nation would be better off if a large number of Americans were murdered in a terrorist attack…which leaves me screaming to ask: Who should die huh?!! Are you gonna die or your families?!! Who would benefit? You call this journalism?!!!

This is the same Fox News who led the charge into the Iraq War and called myself and all others that warned of how difficult it would actually be, how many lives would actually be lost, how much money would actually be spent and most of all how little threat there actually was traitors and unpatriotic is now allowing one of their own “reporters” to categorically agree with a guest who unequivocally states that an attack on American soil is the only way to save America.  So I am a traitor for protesting a war of choice but these two men and the network they operate on are supposed to be patriots?
I said I was going to find a way to cut Fox News off on my last blog and while I have thus far been unsuccessful in finding a way to do so, I will redouble my efforts be calling further up the chain of command at my cable company (I cannot cancel my cable because it is included in my HOA fees and I pay for it regardless of whether I get the service).  In the meantime I urge everyone to demand on behalf of the victims of 9/11 an apology not only from Fox News but from the king of victim exploitation, Glenn Beck.

People like Beck make fools of themselves every time they whine about immigrants---what about the many businesses, which they give their wholehearted support---who have outsourced so many jobs to foreign companies?! Isn't that the very same thing?!! Republicans remind me of my X--he could twist and stomp all over my words, squash the facts and then blame me for everything HE did!!

I recommend purging the republican abusers from all positions of power.

I guess I am a little late to the party, but I'll help clean up when everyone else leaves. Nothing Beck says or does or allows to be said or done surprises me. What did come as a surprise was the reaction I got from people I thought to be rational when I posted the same item on my Facebook page. It turned out that people I have known for years, went to high school or college with, or had other close ties with (pardon the prepositions) turned out to be closet wingnuts. The final straw was when a "friend" posted a link to the bill of rights, which I agree should be necessary reading for anyone, but I jokingly commented that I don't read the bill of rights, I just wait to see what Glenn Beck and Ted Nugent tell me what they mean. Boy, did I start a shitstorm. All in all, I don't regret and I'd do it again, because it showed me who my true friends are. Separated the wheat from the chaff, so to speak.

I'm a vocal proponent of freedom of speech, the press, religion, and assembly. But when idiots like Beck et. al. use hate speech to inspire the killing of innocent people, they should be held to account.

If what President Obama is proposing, as the right wing-nuts say, is Socialism, then I guess I am a Socialist.

BTW, it's almost September and the White House has, to my knowledge, received no intel of a pending attack on the United States; and you can bet if there were, President Obama would be taking steps to stop it, instead of reading "My Pet Goat".

Beverly and the other Fox wingnuts,

Step one: remove head from sand.

Step two: realize the media isn't liberal, they're just stupid.

Step three: educate yourself by actually researching what is
being reported on TV.

Step four: get an intervention to pull you out of the cult of Fox

Step five: realize that your family (unless you're Native
American) also had to immigrate here, and the
process was totally messed up then too. People
took bribes, immigrants were treated like dirt, etc.

And now a question. Which of the immigrant's jobs do you want? Did they steal your work mopping floors at the diner? Or maybe you loved working 14 hour days harvesting food in 100 degree heat with no water or shade or breaks to rest? Oooh, I know. You must have really wanted to work in a sweatshop! Well, we'll get right on that, and you can have your dream job that the immigrants took from you. Pretty soon you'll be making pennies to sew shirts! At last the American dream has been achieved!!!!

And hon, Glen Beck isn't fighting anything. He's making money pandering to a specific part of the population, just like Rush Limbaugh. The other networks, ABC, CBS, NBC, etc HARDLY EVER reflect the real views of liberals. The pander to the right and the left, and will print false accusations and unchecked "facts" just like FOX. Only they seem a little less angry about it.

Oh for God's sake, the man was only trying to make a point. I.E. It'd probably take something really awul to shake up the powers that be to actually get up of their bums and take better action.
You lot need to just take a step back and chill out for a minute.

Wow, charging a hefty admission fee for immigration. That sounds pretty unamerican to me. Why can't we let people work for it as they are willing to? No, we want more capitalist fanatic monsters?

He's a total idiot and needs to get his priorities in order, but I am fed up with this constant quest for apologies!

Are we forgetting that we still have free speech? I do not advocate discouraging people from voicing their absurd opinions. If they don't, we will think they don't exist and they will be better able to hurt us.

Illegal residents in the US are estimated at 11 million. This probably means the number is closer to 22 million. Every time we "tighten" border security, more people die trying to cross the border, and the price the "coyotes" (human smugglers) charge goes up. Right now they are charging about $3,000/person. These "coyotes" have close ties to organized crime. That's $3,000 X at least 11 million into the pockets of organized crime. Then take into account the extra trips people take to visit relatives, etc... That's a lot of money going into the wrong hands each year.

When people argue whether or not immigration has a positive
or negative effect, they are actually both right. It has a negative short term effect as new arrivals require recourse to social services, many of which are being denied in this country, but it has a proven positive long-term effect as the immigrants contribute to the GNP. The children of many immigrants also grow up to make valuable contributions to professional fields including medicine and science.

I propose charging an admission of $1,500 which would offset the negative short-term impact and undercut the organized crime element. This is a common sense solution to a complex problem that I really think would work.

If someone agrees with me and knows how to circulate a petition to that effect I really would appreciate it.

Illegal immigration is not a new problem, Native Americans used to call it White people.

just to reply to an offtopic post (I am not going to mention the poster who did that, it goes something like B. female, ah, Beverly....):

It always amazes that anti-immigrant xenophobia in a country that is made up of overseas new settlers and their descendants who obviously never ask themselves how did they get to be born in USA....
Only Native-American Indians would have some credit with NO immigrants yells (when and if they'll do that), yet somber reminder is that Native American Indians were brutally genocidized by the ancestors of very those/these who are now screaming No immigrants.......

This is nothing new. Since the beginning of war the old have been looking for ways to send the young of to die. Bin Laden has to be given credit for being more than he is to keep the war machine rolling.
