US Army Stops Advertising On Limbaugh

The news for Rush Limbaugh just gets worse.

Sony, British Petroleum, McDonalds, NBC, Toyota, Lowes, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and over one hundred other advertisers have left the show after he attacked Georgetown Law School student Sandra Fluke and called her a “prostitute” and a “slut” for speaking out in favor of contraceptive coverage.

Now it looks like Limbaugh lost the support of the U.S. Army as well.

For now Limbaugh’s program still airs on the Armed Forces Network. But it’s fair to ask for how long.

That’s because Premiere Networks, the company that syndicates Limbaugh’s show, told its affiliate radio stations that they are suspending national advertising for two weeks. As ThinkProgress explains, Limbaugh’s show is provided to affiliates for free in return for running several minutes of national ads given by Premiere for each hour. This is how Premiere makes money off the Limbaugh show and these are the ads they suspended.

The pressure is working. Let’s keep it up. Limbaugh got away with his sexist, racist rants for decades. Let’s make sure it ends now.

Christopher, please do not confuse me with your E.D. and needing Viagra. I am only 73 years old and hopefully it will be at least another 20 years before I will have to worry about those things. So take you hate somewhere else.

I read most of the post on this site and thank God for Free Speech, as if Obama has his way and your discussions were against his ideas or what he messed up, he would have close the site down. So much for free speech under Obama.

Rush had and still has the largest audience of any radio talk show, host today. Most of his advertisers are either back or wanting back once they understood that our sweetheart from Georgetown was a plant. It would have to be a plant to prostitute herself in that manner, with a lot of good money from the DNC.

Have fun with this one. smile

This bombastic bag of hot air should not be supported in any way. The army, Armed Forces Radio, and any other "government agency" should not be supporting or carrying this misogynist's disgusting and hurtful tripe. Somebody permanently prick his balloon so that he goes flying off never to be seen and heard from again. Limbaugh's filth should be declared air pollution and monitored by the EPA under the Clean Air Act.

Limbaugh and his vitriolic diatribes can stay off the air forever and it would be one less blight on our society. He is of the ilk that supports insurance coverage for me to get Viagra but won't support women getting coverage for birth control; he relegates women to third class citizens. The only reason I would support his staying on the air is he is hurting the GOP in a major way with his tripe. THAT pleases me immensely. I know freedom of speech is a wonderful right we have in this nation unlike many other countries but that doesn't mean we have to sully the airwaves with mindless garbage coming from the mouth of people like Limbaugh.

I hope that Limbaugh goes off the air and stays off. He spouts nothing but hate and lies. He adds nothing to civil discourse in America, he doesn't help any of the problems we have, he just makes them worse. I think many people have become addicted to listening to his mind numbing rhetoric. People might find themselves feeling better about themselves and the world when they become free of the constant haranguing, the same old, same old that is his program.
