King Kuka was born and raised on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Montana. His many life experiences now add vibrant colors to his art. Creating art is not a simple pastime, but the spiritual essence of his life. In those early years life was hard not knowing whether rent would get paid,or even if food would be set for the table. However, a strong creative mind rises up to meet such challenges and so it is with King. In the time before settlers vision quests were made by his people. Kuka's quest was made he has found and continues to find his creative spirit.
King Kuka is highly recognized for his own individual style, his ability to work in watercolors, oils, bronze, silver and gold, and dedication to his people, his art,his family and religion. His supportive wife, Marietta, works side by side with him, and his five children are active in the arts as well.
I will send my heart
with the eagle
carried on winds of trust
to be blessed by the Sun
and baptized in rain
beneath nature's rainbow alter.
