Turmeric contains powerful anti-inflammatory properties.

Inflammation has been†linked to†major diseases such as†Alzheimerís, arthritis,†cancer,†diabetes,†heart disease, and†signs of aging so anything that can effectively reduce inflammation can profoundly affect your health.

Turmerichas been shown to be more effective than anti-inflammatory drugs. Curcumin targets multiple steps in the inflammatory pathway at the molecular level. It is considered one of the Top 12 Anti-inflammatory Foods in the world.

Inflammation is usually associated with pain. I personally know several individuals who relieved their joint paint just by taking one teaspoon a day of turmeric.

2. Helps to Prevent Cancer and Stop Cancer Growth

ďNo cancer has been found, to my knowledge, which is not affected by curcumin,” says Bharat Aggarwal, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Experimental Therapeutics. “The reason curcumin is so effective against cancer is that it hits not just a single target or cell signaling pathway but dozens of targets implicated in cancer.”

Curcumin has been shown to slow pancreatic cancer, plus many other forms through various molecular pathways.

We are familiar with turmeric powder but in it's raw form is a root which resembles ginger.

3. Lowers cholesterol:

Heart disease continues to be one of the major killers of our time. Studies show that curcumin induces changes in expression of genes involved in cholesterol homeostasis.

4. Prevents Alzheimerís disease:

Population studies demonstrate that Alzheimerís disease is 4.4 lower amongst Indian Asians as compared to people of western origin who do not consume turmeric regularly.

Curcumin may help clear the amyloid plaques found in Alzheimer’s disease and is able to cross the blood brain barrier with itís anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Turmeric has been shown to help with depression and reduce Alzheimer's.

5. Fights Depression

Curcumin has shown promise in treating depression naturally. In a controlled study, cucumin was shown to produce benefits equal to the drug Prozac.

6. Improved Liver Function for Detoxing and Cleansing the Body

There are two main steps of detoxification within the liver. Phase one and phase two. When phase two is not efficient and a lot of toxins are coming into the body, this is believed to be the cause of increased environmental sensitivities and drug intolerances common to chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia patients.

Curcumin stimulates phase two detoxification, so it may help a wide range of individuals.

Turmeric versus Curcumin.

Most of the controlled studies on turmeric have used standardized extracts of curcumin, its most active ingredient. Curcumin though, is not the only†active ingredient. The Ayurvedic and Chinese health systems have used turmeric in its whole forms for thousands of years with excellent results.

In the west where we think “more is always better” and “stronger is better.” Extracts of curcumin have been the favored approach until recently when turmeric’s† wider range of health benefits has become better known.

At Real Food For Life, we always strive for wholeness. We think itís wonderful that you donít have to eat turmeric in a concentrated or medicinal form. You can buy it in any grocery store and it is very inexpensive.

Studies have only been conducted in laboratories and on animals and the results were not promising.
Keep in mind that turmeric is only about 3% curcumin and your body does not absorb curcumin well. Be prepared to eat several pounds to derive any potential benefits!

*** make sure you are eating healthy foods as Inflammation is mostly the cause of Arthritis and joint pain etc. Reduce your sugar and sugary intake as that brings about Inflammation and its when there is too much in the system that ones body begins to scream..........stop feeding me sugar!

No taste, Its not spicy either. Virtually not taste at all. You can buy it in capsule form as well. Look out for where the Turmeric comes from. India is recommended b/c they protect Turmeric and also make sure that you read on the back of the packet that is is 100% Curcuma Longa

another way of getting Turmeric is to seek out the Turmeric root which looks rather orangey but it looks like ginger. Turmeric is part of the Ginger family anyway. In India they also call it ' Yellow Saffron'.

Just peel it and grate some into your cooking and crack a bit of pepper into your cooking as well. It is the Curcumin which is the active ingredient of Turmeric that makes the Turmeric so good for you BUT by adding a few cracks of cracked pepper actually boosts the Curcumin by a whopping 2000%. Yes thats correct .. by 2000%

Turmeric has been recorded as helping 600 health issues and can be used to help heal animals esp if they have arthritis and joint issues. Its also good for infected wounds and for people too.

Mix a blob of New Zealand Manuka honey 10 strength is what i used and into it mix in Turmeric powder to create a paste. Apply with clean Q tip buds and apply a wound dressing. Do this 2 times a day and within days you will discover the wound on your animal or yourself is completely healed and that goes for all Staph infections. I know b/c I did it on my self with a rare Staph infection contracted from a major operation I had earlier this year.

Do a Google Search on the Benefits of Turmeric and you will be amazed. There has been lots and lots of test studies on Turmeric and the results have been amazing to everyone and the researchers too. Drs and Vets are now recommending using Turmeric therapeutically.
*** make sure you are eating healthy foods
