Animals of many different species have been known to form bonds. A friend had a snake she fed mice, and he ate all but one. He refused to do so and they cuddled. Every feeding time the same mouse remained till it passed of old age. Why? We will never know what creates these unusual bonds as long as we continue to think of animals as stupid. Watching over the years, I have seen incredible intelligence in many species. We had a male dog who had a spayed female friend. One day he came to the front door of the house instead of his door, "knocked" till we answered. Came in went to the dog cookie cabinet and waited till given his treat. HE then went to the door and begged out. Curious we let him out , and received a call from the neighbor telling us Sammie had brought the treat to his friend, sat in front of her and dropped it and pushed it to her. She ate it and they went on to play.
Why you ask? They were friends. Not so dumb after all...

I didn't expect it from the cat besides the initial curious exam, but the dolphins must have talked kitty into friendship. >_

Oh my goodness what an adorable scene!!! I would expect the curiosity and affection from a dolphin, but for a cat to get that close to the water in order to try to lure the dolphin back for another nudge? Incredible!

Despite man's best efforts, all seems to be right with the Universe. It is impossible to be agnostic after watching this.
