Country Singer Raises Money for Animals

Grammy-winning singer Miranda Lambert is holding another charity fundraiser in Texas. Called Cause for the Paws, it will be the fourth one she has hosted. Donations for the event will go to abused and abandoned animals living at the Humane Society of East Texas. Last year the charity gathering raised almost $100,000.

Miranda will perform at a venue in downtown Tyler, with guests such as Stoney Larue, Josh Kelley and Nan Kelley. Tickets are $25 to $65 and go on sale February 25th for the April event. Ms. Lambert has also started a foundation to raise money for animal shelters called the Mutt Nation Foundation. The website features rescued animals, and images of pets uploaded by fans. Here is a video with some shots of her at one of the previous charity performances:

Lambert was won one Grammy Award, for Best Female Country Vocal Performance — “The House That Built Me,” (see below) and has been nominated for three others. Two of her recent shows with nearly 6,000 seats sold out in 30 minutes.

The Humane Society of East Texas is a no-kill, selective admission animal shelter.

Before this lady aims that gun at an animal, may be she should really look into that animal's eyes and see that animal wants to live just as much as any of those animals she is helping to save at a shelter and as much as she wants to live too! This is what all hunters need to ask themselves but never do! The desire to live is in all animals' eyes, it's just that hunters don't look or want to look. I would more likely believe that she is really genuine in her motives of helping animals at shelters if she would stop hunting! She needs to expand her compassion to all animals. There is no difference between the animals she's killing and those at a shelter. I hope that she has this epiphany one day, soon. She is still not setting a good example for young people by hunting- that indeed an animal's life has no importance compared to a hunter's lust to kill it! And if she is trying to assuage her guilt, the best way to do this is to stop hunting and killing animals and showing a sense of the sanctity of life for all God's creatures!

While help any animals is better than helping none, how can someone who goes "hunting" justify it? While I don't like all animals, I'm NOT in favor of hunting or killing ANY ANIMAL.

Good for her for helping educate people about the serious overpopulation problem for unwanted pets. She is doing wonderful things for animals in need. And for all the people who are making comments about her hunting - do you eat meat? It is pretty hypocritical to judge someone who is able to look bambi in the eye (or bambi's father, as was pointed out to me), take that life and use all the parts of the animal; while having no qualms about walking into a grocery store and picking up pre-packaged factory-farmed meat. If you can't take the life yourself, do you deserve to eat the meat, much less judge others? Hunting for sport is definitely wrong but so is factory farming.

~I'd like to ask Miranda if this is guilt money or what!?~I'd call it blood money if she is indeed a hunter!~I have no respect for hunters, no matter who they are!!~

I understand shes a proud hunter and I dont agree with it at all. But at least she is helping some animals. Pat her on the back for a great job with that and speak up for the hunted. An animal saved is an animal saved. But PLEASE Miranda take a look at the face of the animal ur about to kill and see its no different than the one you sing to save!!!!!!!!!

To everyone that is talking about Miranda and Blake hunting, I don't see a thing wrong with it.
I woulld like to ask you both (the two that has a comment). H
have you ever eaten any kind of meat? What do you think that meat you buy in a market is, if it isn't meat, that has been killed some way.

Seems that Miranda believes it's okay to save some species and kill others for sheer sport. Story of her hunting at this link.
