@ Trish K : before writing comments, please inform yourself. You can google a lot of articles. Then you will see there are no blue and no yellow ones. They appear to be pink because you see their blood vessels through their transparent body.......

@ Vicky L : these ARE NOT BABIES. They are fully grown. Generally between 20 and 30 cms. tales included !!

@ Debra G . : thanks so much for this additional info and good they brought the fertilized eggs to a university laboratories where they have more chance to hatch. Well done !! In any way, it's a funny and painful way to show your husband that you are in a receptive period and are about to lay your eggs.

@ O'Beara : because you've seen them in a stupid movie, you think you know all about them. A stupid comment !!

- 2 - So, it are very peculiar animals. It is not an option to reintroduce them in the wild. First of all, lot of fresh water spots disappear, then there is the continuous drought that is increasing nearly everywhere, Fortunately these little critters are kept in aquariums in zoos and at home. Many people keep them because they look so cute, and they are well taken care of. I believe this is the first time I applaud keeping wildlife animals at home or at zoos. But in this case, it is absolutely necessary because otherwise they will certainly disappear within the next decades.
