Daryl Hannah Arrested at White House

Daryl Hannah was arrested with others outside the White House for protesting against construction of the Tar Sands pipeline which would carry oil from Canada to the Gulf Coast. Part of the pipeline would be built over U.S. land. “We want to be free from our dependence on foreign oil and fossil fuels. If Obama approves of this Keystone XL pipelineÖ it would be a disaster. These pipelines, itís not ‘Ďif’ itís going to spill, itís ‘when’ itís going to spill,” she said. (Source: abcnews.com)

“How often?” might also be added to that line of questioning. It has been speculated that the Tar Sands oil pipeline would transfer about 900,000 barrels a day. Recently in Montana there was a spill from an oil pipeline similar to the one proposed to import Tar Sands oil.

Ms. Hannah uses biodiesel for her own vehicles, which is slightly-processed, used vegetable oil, usually collected from restaurants after they have used it for frying. The veggie oil is filtered and then treated using methanol and lye. She recently joined with a biodiesel company to help promote the use of the plant-based fuel. It typically produces less C02 when burned, so it doesn’t contribute as much to climate change when used in vehicles. Biodiesel only works in diesel engines though, and most people drive non-diesel vehicles. Hannah has been a longtime advocate for conservation of natural resources and reducing fossil fuel consumption.

excuse me, "all of the waste water from our towns"...

When President Carter was in office, he put together a team of scientists that were able to formulate that a plant constructed in the Sonoran desert, could grow algae and the algae would grow fast enough to supply the entire United States with all of its oil needs. Guess what happened then, Reagan took office, took down the solar panels and began negotiating for petroleum.
All of the watt water from our towns could be used to grow algae, and in doing so would decrease the CO2 from our air, and bio-diesel burns 80% cleaner that petroleum.
Other nations are subsidizing bio fuel, and it is is cheaper at the pump. Instead, America subsidizes the petroleum industry, and gives tax breaks for people who drive gas pigs.

The strange thing about bio diesel is that it requires farm land to grow it. And all the farm land that we have is used to grow food so how on earth are we to grow enough bio diesel to meet global demand. Without large scale deforestation or a large reduction in the amount of food that we currently grow
It is as simple as this.
one if we increase the the use of bio diesel
We decrease the lungs of the earth through deforestation
