Help Bring Safe Water to Those in Need

March 22nd is World Water Day, established by the United Nations to examine water issues around the world and raise awareness to the fact that one in eight people on our planet do not have safe water to drink. What seems like a basic fact of life to many of us–turning on the faucet and getting a clean drink of water–is a struggle for many people across the globe.

WaterAid, a worldwide organization that works to bring safe water, hygiene and sanitation to the world’s poorest communities, estimates that nearly 900 million people in the world do not have access to safe water and that 4,000 children die every day from water-related diseases. Despite these staggering numbers, it costs very little to help reduce these deaths. Just a $25 one-time donation is enough to provide clean water for one person for life. To donate to WaterAid and help provide this life essential to a person in need, visit the WaterAid website.

You can also help provide water to impoverished people simply by drinking tea. Choice Organic Teas has partnered with WaterAid for the month of March, and is donating 20 cents to WaterAid for every box of tea sold on its website during the month of March. Choice offers a wide variety of fair trade, non-GMO, organic teas perfect for making delicious iced tea this spring and summer. Some of my favorite teas for summer are cooling, refreshing mint teas and iced green teas for an antioxidant boost. Choice offers these suggestions and instructions for making the perfect pitcher of iced tea. Whether you choose to donate directly to WaterAid or to support WaterAid and your own health with responsibly made teas, helping to provide clean drinking water to the world’s poorest people is a straightforward, uncomplicated and affordable way to do a little good this month.

Here's something you can do. Go to superdonate.org, download the software, and select your charity as charity::water. That way, whenever your computer is idle, it's donating money towards a water charity!

thanks

also please consider protecting wastewater in your house by avoiding fluoride toothpaste, fluoride mouthwash to start and fluoridated nursery water - it pollutes the water leaving your house - and doesnt help teeth

In the year 2012 it's unacceptable, sad and beyond logic for people to die by lack of water!!!
