It would be nice if this article had more details. I've been aware of the robotic eye implants for many years now, but last I heard, the resolution is extremely poor. It's far worse than even my bad eye, which cannot generally see an eye chart at all. I'm still pleased with the progress, of course, because it's a step forward. But it'd be nice to hear if they have gotten to the point of any sort of decent resolution, even if it were just toward the higher end of legally blind. Because odds are good, he's still blind with the implant, just a slightly more sighted blind person. But not even one who can read print visually.

I am hopeful that stem cell research will continue. It is probably the best hope for retinal regrowth, which is the best hope for helping a decent percentage of blind people.
