How Much Do You Really Know About HIV/AIDS?

Question 1
True or False: HIV/AIDS is only a problem for gay men.
A
True
B
False
Question 1 Explanation:
Though HIV/AIDS has long been associated with certain populations ó and, to be sure, the statistics on the prevalence among those populations donít lie, but that doesnít mean that anyone who has unprotected sex, uses intravenous drugs, or even other STIs (sexually transmitted infections) that cause open sores. Men who have sex with men are still at the highest risk of contracting HIV ó over half of new cases in the United States belong to that group. In the United States, African-Americans are more affected by HIV than people of any other race.
Question 2
True or False: I can get HIV from touching or kissing a person with HIV.
A
True
B
False
Question 2 Explanation:
Only certain types of contact ó exposure to blood, semen, rectal and vaginal fluids, or breast milk ó can transmit the virus. That means simply touching or kissing an HIV-positive person wonít cause you to get HIV. There are a few, extremely, extremely rare cases of other methods of transmission ó but theyíre so unlikely that theyíre statistically negligible.
Question 3
True or False: You can spread HIV even if you're getting treatment.
A
True
B
False
Question 3 Explanation:
Even if youíre undergoing treatment for HIV/AIDS, you can still pass the virus along to others. Thatís why itís so important to use condoms, no matter your status.
Question 4
True or False: AIDS is hopeless.
A
True
B
False
Question 4 Explanation:
HIV/AIDS treatment has come a very long way since the dark days of the 1980s, largely due to the development of azidothymidines (AZTs.) As long as itís caught early enough and the patient goes under regular treatment, being HIV-positive isnít nearly the death sentence it once was.
Question 5
True or False: AIDS isn't relevant anymore.
A
True
B
False
Question 5 Explanation:
Though, as we learned in the last question, HIV/AIDS treatment has become exponentially better in the past few decades, itís still as relevant as it ever was. Millions of people across the globe have the infection. In the United States alone, nearly 50,000 people are diagnosed every year ó and 1 in 8 HIV-positive people are unaware that they have it. That alarmingly-high statistic is exactly why itís important to always practice safe sex and get tested regularly.
Question 6
True or False: You need to wear a condom even if both partners are HIV-positive.
A
True
B
False
Question 6 Explanation:
Other than the fact that condoms protect against different STIs, there are also different strains of HIV, and itís very, very possible that you can give your partner a reinfection of the virus.
Question 7
True or False: Just because you tested negative, you can still be at risk.
A
True
B
False
Question 7 Explanation:
It can take 3 months, or even a few months longer, for a person exposed to HIV to test positive for the virus ó so testing negative doesnít automatically mean that youíre HIV-free.
Question 8
True or False: We're not totally clear on how HIV developed.
A
True
B
False
Question 8 Explanation:
This is false for the most part. Scientists mostly agree that HIV/AIDS originated in chimps in West Africa. Itís almost certainly likely that it was transferred to humans through the slaughter and consumption of chimps for food. Scientists have been able to date back the first known case of what is known called HIV to the 1950s. It wasnít until the early 1980s that the virus was named and better understood.

Before now, I had suffered from HIV/AIDS disease for 3 years and had constant pain, especially in my body. The Virus circulated all over my body system and i have been taking treatment from my doctor, few weeks ago i search on the internet if i could get any information concerning the cure for my HIV, on my search i saw a testimony of someone who has been healed from HIV by a herbal doctor called DrOhiole and she also gave the email address of this man and advise we should contact him for any sickness that he would be of help, so i wrote to DrOhiole telling him about my HIV/AIDS he told me not to worry anymore that i will be fine. we discussed further and gave instructions to me and i followed.
I didn't believe him, until i received the package of some herbal stuffs, roots and herbs and some herbal soap and a written note he sent to me via DHL delivery service, i was applying the various remedies as he wrote on he note.
5days later, i noticed that there was a positive change going on in my body system. Gradually i was taking the cure and now, i am very healthy again. Even the test now shows negative.
I promised DrOhiole that i will always testify about his cure.

It is conclusive, you can track it by following the spread of random changes in non codeing regions of the genome

I got the last one wrong. I thought it was a theory and didn't realise they consider it as conclusive.
