The Ultimate Dream House for a Cat

If you are a cat lover, you are going to go meow-ZA over a new trend in Japan: houses for humans that are also decked-out for cats! The architect behind the trend, Asahi Kasei, designs very modern homes with the feline features seamlessly built in.

In some of Kasei’s designs, the litter box is built into the bathroom and is either hidden under or inside a cupboard with a small entrance and exit door for your cat, or is placed in its own adjacent stall.

Cat tunnels, hideouts, arial walkways and perches are tastefully integrated into the human spaces so that cats and their humans can easily enjoy each other’s company.

The minute I saw these cool cat houses, I wanted one. Luckily, I have a very handy engineering husband who can build into our house many of these great cat perches. The only problem is I need to convince him to do so. In the meantime, my cats and I are going to drool at these awesome Japanese cat-friendly interiors.

I would love to live in a house built to cater to a cats every needs. I think it might surprise some to find their homes even more enjoyable to live in, if their homes were built that way. often times their needs match our own needs.

Fantastic! We've got an outside run so our cats don't kill wildlife, but would love some more features indoors...
