Leverage Your Freedom to Choose

You do not have free will. I’m sorry if I’m the first to break that to you.

What you have is total freedom to choose how you will follow the laws of the universe. If you try to change or break or ignore the laws you will struggle and suffer. That’s not a threat. It isn’t divine retribution.

Let’s look at it another way.

You can cook toast in your toaster. But should you decide to boil water in your toaster, or worse, that you are going to try to keep the electricity coming down the cables at bay with your fingers, I assure you, you’re going to suffer. The electricity isn’t vengeful. It’s just electricity. You just don’t have that kind of power or free will. But you do have the resourcefulness to invent a better kind of toaster if you want to.

See what I mean?

Now, that’s electricity, but what about the law of attraction? The one that says, “Ask and it is given”?

You have an incredible gift; one in which you do have total freedom – and that is the gift of imagination. With imagination you can change your thoughts – what you think about and how you think about a thing. As you do that, you’ll notice that your feelings will follow….Continue reading at InspireMeToday.com.

You Do have free will. You actually said as much, Trevor. The important thing to note though is the consequence of applying that free will. If I want to boil water in my toaster, I have that free will to do so.
It is a fascinating debate and it depends on which philosophical / theological or esoteric premise you hold. In the Christian perspective God gives you the free will to be for Him or against Him - the consequence: Heaven or Hell. In Buddhist / Hindu tradition of Karmic Law your free will, if in contradiction to universal harmony, will result in you having to repeat your life through reincarnation until you learn to apply free will more wisely. It's still free will.

Actually, free will is exactly what our author says it is not. Strange, but true!

Actually there is NO god to contact, as NOTHING fails like prayer, so for people that still want to believe in the fairy tale, they can feel free, just don't push it on me.

on the topic of attraction Yogananda mentioned:

"Visualizations or affirmations of success can encourage and strengthen your conscious mind, but the conscious mind alone can not achieve success if it is hindered by karmic law. Only by contacting God in meditation, and tapping into His unlimited power, can a person overcome a strong poverty tendency from the past.

Success and divine abundance follow the law of service and generosity. Those who seek prosperity only for themselves are either bound to be poor for some time, or to suffer from mental inharmony. But those who think of others and work for group prosperity find that cosmic forces support and guide them in their efforts to achieve success. The law of magnetism works in their favor."
