The sagging economy has people looking to cut whatever costs they can, and in some cases, it means giving up pets they've had for years, which often require expensive medical treatment.

It`s not fair to me. If you have a pet you must treat him!

I would do what I could for my dog and cats. I understand people are finding themselves in positions where, before they could do what was needed for the animal, but, now, cannot. I will not condemn anyone for lack of money. This is only going to get worse. People need to help one another. I would run an ad for help. Go to local pet stores and ask for donations, I'd try it all, because you know, really , the last thing people want to do is give up their pet. I feel bad for all of us in these economic times and I for one will not judge, because someone does not have enough cash to continue to care for an animal. I think giving up the animal, to at least a shelter, is certainly better then leaving it tied up some place to die, or letting it roam free.

I agree with you Sharen.sometimes people are given little or no choice. It is a shame that some people have so much money that they can live their lives as they please and some end up with nothing . Having to make choices no one should have to make. What a world we live in that some are drowning in money and some are drowning in debt with no way out.. This is only the beginning . So help whomever you can ...don't talk about this stuff actually do something and we will all survive this mess,,,hopefully
