Next year, according to the Chinese calendar, is the Year of the Tiger but conservationists say the omens are inauspicious for an animal on the brink of extinction.

This is sad Cher, I hope they can figure out some way to save them before it is too late. Such beautiful creatures.

Unfortunately, I think that the extinction of this magnificent animal is inevitable with human encroachment into all of its natural range. This is sad news to begin with, Cher. But needed.

For what it's worth, I think these 'experts' should keep their opinions to themselves. It just gives the wrong assisted mouthpiece to the fat cats who want it made much easier for them to tear down forests, and make a packet from logging. I would suspect that some of these announcements are 'experts' who are paid to spread the idea of doom and gloom. Long live those charities and organisations that make governments HAVE to sit up and do something about the conservation of species in their own countries. A petition to help the tigers is here at:

Sometimes it feels that no matter what we do as the 'ordinary part of the populace' the ones in power just don't do what we ask no matter how we couch the terms, be it politely, be it with a little bit of 'persuasion', they just continue to do what they want to do and if it means that they kill off such a magnificent creature then so be it. Isn't it a shame that they can't do the same to themselves, the world would be such a nicer place to live in!

Such a beautiful magnificant animal. Breaks my heart to think future generations may only veiw them thriving and well in a video.

Heart breaking! If MAN would change his ways a bit we could save many, many animals from extinction. But oh, that deep pocket that needs to be filled with the big bucks!!!
