When it comes to caring for the environment, is there a gender difference between men and women?

NO-ONE in our brutally ecocidal, omnicidal, insane, and doomed 'civilisation' is anywhere near green.

Hishuk ish ts'awalk.: " If you participate in the global ecomony, your hands are blood red, you've got blood all over. If you don't participate but allow it to continue, your hands are blood red. If you [help to] bring it down, your hands are blood red. We're in a bad situation, in the middle of an exploitative situation, and doing nothing is not a moral answer. "
-- DJ in "ENDGAME: An Evening With Derrick Jensen" 07/11

On average, women used to have a little less blood on their hands, but this is one field where emancipation has been 'progressing' verrrry rapidly...

Male and female goals differ. Male and female brains differ significantly. Male and female anxiety appears todiffer, and bonded mates appear to embrace increasingly similar viewpoints.

Males seek social dominance for reproductive reasons (although some social status results in lessening of general anxiety, so the reasons are perhaps not able to be teased out through language)
Females seek tobe associated with social status, and often attack males whom they perceive as threatening to their perceived social status orintent.

Conservatism (in modern usage or distortion of that term) and liberalism, may well be involved in social status as cognitive tools to attain that status.
Wolf has it right: in his first sentence - but I'd better get off this computer, as the internet is largely developed into a tool for achieving social ends (for instance, sustaining global economy), which are likely exclusively coalition to obtain status.

Women and men do never see eye to eye, but coalesce in mating. That purpose is beyond reach of language and what is emotionally believed to be rational process.

Thanks wolf, for the redirect!

Thanks Cher for posting the article by Gary Polakovic. I Must be running with the wrong crowd of environmental activists. All the local groups I belong to are about evenly matched with men and women members. However when talking with people, encouraging them to be better stewards of this world, I get a more positive response from women. Read and noted.

Not in this house.

It's like being married to a Republican.

That bad.

I dont think you can generalise on this as every person is different. Some men are green er than some woman and vice a versa. It all depends on the persons priorities and beliefs.
