I hope whoever dumped her gets even worse than the treatment he doled out to this poor pony.

I would think with this ponys white paint features someone should reccognize her and her owner. Unless of course she's was dropped off in a different area. I hope somene does the right thing and comes forward. The abuse of this sweet girl is utterly unacceptable.

What a lovely little mare. Who could do this to her?

I agree with Milkah, with her markings someone knows who did this. We can only hope Star heals fully and the monster that put her through this gets what's coming to him/her.

It's a terrible and sad story. I hope this pony find a good family.

Really inexcusable neglect, too. I believe flystrike is similar to screwworm infestation, where the fly lays eggs in the wound, then the larvae feed on the flesh of the unfortunate host. It would really take a remarkably depraved character to just sit back and watch this happen.

People can be so awful- if you can't afford to take care of an animal, surrender it to the animal shelter, go online and set up a "chip-in", give it away on Craig's list, or whatever. But don't let the poor thing suffer...

how sick can people be? if they couldn't care for her there are rescue groups that would take her in. if nothing else at least have the balls to get her put down and out of pain. i hope they find who did this.

So very sad, I hope Star gets the treatment she needs and a loving caring family soon! The person who did it needs serious help!

Whoever did this - the neglect and abandonment - needs to be found and given a strict sentence!

I'm afraid that this may be considered racist but it is the sort of thing that Travellers do. One of my colleagues wives looks after abandoned animals in a field near her. Left by Travellers in the autumn but the RSPCA will do nothing until the animals are ready to drop dead with starvation. She cannot bear to see the animals get into that state so she feeds them during the winter and the Travellers reclaim them in the spring! No money is ever offered.

The police rarely go into their camps except mob handed so, if this a Traveller's horse then justice is unlikely to be done.

What is it with some people? Horses and ponies are such useful animals, as well as being intelligent enough to serve as companions, and should not be neglected!

Noted. Thanks for sharing, Cher. This is such a bittersweet story. I'm so glad that Star was found and is getting the treatment she deserves. I sincerely hope the owner is found and charged with the maximum allowed by law for animal cruelty. With Star's unique markings and coloring someone should know something, I pray they come forward and do the right thing.
