Honestly, this may help for a while -- if they decide to do this project -- then groups of people who form good communities would have time to move to higher ground -- meaning off the Island -- if the water keeps rising.

Seriously, if I lived there, I would make plans to move with people that get along with me, and then purchase/ downpayment and move to over a certain elevation with the scientific backing and hope that the area moved to is safe.

Maybe there could be a petition about funds sent to help with mobilization to help people move from areas that are likely to flood in the near future to firm ground. This is simply buying who knows who much time? What does science say about this location?
