Preliminary results of a study into a wildlife rope bridge in Australia, the first one built in Victoria, indicate early success in helping protect native animals from the effects of roads and traffic.

So glad to hear that even one animal has been saved by man instead of the other way around.

When they build new roads why cant they always think of the animals, put in overhaed passes and even tunnels etc to help the anmals with roads, lets hope this is the first of many such devices to help our animal friends.

I´m hardly ever on the road (I don´t drive), but whenever I am in somebody else's car, I pray that all the animals will be safe and none will cross anybody´s path, including birds... It´s a horrible feeling every time, and terrible seeing dead animals on or by the road.

Thanks Cher.

What a great idea. Wish they'd do more like that here in the states.

Love this. My husbands work car also has an 'alert' signal on the front that appears to work in diverting animals from the road

They've been using ideas in the UK for years to help frogs, toads, etc., get across roads to mate and spawn. Tunnels were built and it was a success. Before that volunteers would go out with buckets and torches and collect them and take them to safety.

Previously 100's of frogs were squashed by motorists because they were in large groups.

The rope bridge is a magnificent idea, however, what about hoofed animals who can't cross rope bridges?
