For residents in an apartment complex near the National Stadium where 60 percent of the occupants are 65 or over, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics bring unwelcome news: their homes are set to be demolished by 2018 at the latest.

Looks like they hurt people with each and every Olympics. Thanks for posting this article.

Russia is going back to the One Day in the life of ivan Denisovich lifestyle. Pussy Cat Riot is in prison for something they could paid a fine and done community service for. Gays and lesbians are in crisis. So why are we surprised they are harming seniors?

This happened in China too, and I am pretty sure it is the same in Russia. All Olympics should be stopped.

so much for the myth of Japan caring for and honoring seniors.
New event in the olympics- senior displacement..and the gold medal for that going to Japan. Don't fret folks, the US isn't far behind...ask any Republican

It is amazing how each 'show case' bread and circuses Olympic event manages to displace and shunt people elsewhere just to spiff things up for a brief flash in the pan event for the country and the rest of the world while locals have to often live with some of the more detrimental effects (such as forced relocation) for the rest of their lives. Certainly if my home of many years was sacrificed for an Olympic event, that would hardly make me or others in a similar situation feel very happy.

Thanks.....Guess a big splashy, fancy Olympics is more important than people !!!! ....but then if people were important....Japan would "FIX" the Nuke Leak !!!

This is terrible. For a country that wants to put out a favorable impression, this certainly doesn't do it. I was under the impression that elders were to be revered in Asian countries. If that is the case, this kind of revering isn't my cup of rice.
