“It is true that insects don’t like hot weather. They don’t like the cold either. They’re just like people as we’re all living things on this planet,” he said. “But we can’t say anything for sure unless we gather the necessary data. We can’t be sure that this is something peculiar to this year because it’s essentially hot every summer.”

I suppose another reason is that we had little rain during June and July, so there were few water poosl where mosquitos could rsy eggs.

We have lots of heat in Australia & always an abundance of bugs!
i guess Japanese bugs aren't used to heat!

We've had high heat and humidity here in California. It's going to get worst start tomorrow and run thru next week. We've been warned of mosquitoes and other bugs due to heat.. Thanks Naoko
