We need more people in Michigan too. We are facing a tyrannical government here. The governor, Rick Snyder, has a Bill already passed by the House (all taken over this year by Republicants) that will put him in charge of each town and city in Michigan. He plans to fire the elected officials in all and appoint one of his cronies to run the towns and cities. How is that for tyranny? It also includes massive tax raises for seniors and the poor, and much more. You can see it all on YouTube.

You cannot currently send a star to Kit because you have done so within the last week.
Good to see Florida has finally jumped on the bandwagon, as 11 are sponsored around this State, everyone in Florida should find one within a driveable distance. Orlando here I come, will be my second rally this week.

This is the result of the public not being informed in the beginning . I think the first demonstration should begin with the populous , the voters who should demand those running for office to be asked what they will do instead of what their opinion is or "mud " is on their opponent . I feel one should ask, " Did this official campaign on this issue?" or " did the official deliberately mislead the public?" This is Ronnie Reagan all over again. Secondly who is running these demonstrations? Is the tea-bag party involved? The Who said it best, "Don't get fooled again". The best form of demonstration against elected officials is at the pools, VOTE damn it !!!!!and become better informed, make them answer the questions and when they go against the campaign pledge recall.

who is running these demonstrations?

I will not answer as I feel it better, that you learn to fish. Or at least pick it up when its flopping around on the beach.

In any case, if baggers show up to rally to our cause, I would welcome them, offering coffee as a change of pace.

Even in Arizona, rallies are being planned and I'm attending the one in Sedona with family and friends. It's nice to join together to stand up for each other all around this country, and the world. We can defeat the corporatists if we stand together and vote for our best interests.

I am helping to organize a carpool to the Houston Rally. Hopefully, there will be a sizable turnout.
The issues here in Texas are the enormous cuts in social programs and education. The Governor, Rick Perry, has said that the cuts are not his fault. As usual he places the blame on everyone else but himself. One of the plans call for the firing of over 100,000 Teachers and maybe increasing class sizes by a third to a half. If there is anyone out there still talking up the virtues of Republican governance just look at the state of Texas and try and find the virtues.

Wow. Pinch me, I think I am dreaming. Could this be a return to the America I knew as a boy. An America where torture was something only the enemy stooped to. An America where men made a decent living at blue collar jobs making things of quality for the country and the rest of the world. An America where war was not endless but opportunity was. You have my full and unwavering support. Many of my Aunts,Uncles and cousins are American and my brother was born in Pontiac. From Canada I salute you and will send as much money as I can afford. Vive le revolution!

We need to purge every statehouse in the U.S. of every member of the GOP. We need to send the message loud and clear that we won't stop until the GOP's War on Workers and on the Poor has stopped and the GOP itself is in the sewage pit of history. We have to organize petitions and protests, recalls and street marches. If all else fails, then we will have to vote them out of office next election. But we have to get rid of the GOP poison while we still can before we're reduced to being a nation of slaves.

Arrived early, helped set up sound. Chilly, many cops with whom I joked, one plain clothes rep showing us where the gun turrets of his imagining are in relation to our cage. I pointed out that some from other countries people might be alarmed so he should be careful and made his point for him unacknowledged by either. Engaging cops is alright if they smile and are otherwise leaving you alone. If they don't smile. Leave them alone. Move on and away from the idiot who just decided to convert one, without purpose yelling where you once stood. Me being onewho picks his fights, my adversaries with purpose, at my time, went on to have a good time, rousing the crowd rather than a cold tired cop.

[Repeating a post from elsewhere, for anyone who read this on Kit's story]

The rally I went to was about 80 miles away (though their site said 46) and was supposed to last from 5:30-7pm. We stopped to grab a sandwich to eat on the way, then went around in circles for about 1/2 hour, BUT the attendance was decent (180 people -- in Asheville, NC).

Not many people had signs, but we did manage to get a photo of a clever couple with a 2-part sign that said [paraphrasing]: "When poor people unite, they call it a union." and the other "When wealthy people unite, they call it a corporation."

All in all, we felt good that we got up and made the effort; met some nice people; signed a petition (and got to take a look at the Asheville central business district, which was, surprisingly, pretty cultural and architecturally interesting).

It went very well and you guys were all there with me. Its only the second of what will be bigger and bigger, more well attended events. Both so far have been great and on short notice this last one was surprising in terms of the crowd. We made some noise with some great reps, one from Brooklyn and some Union Leaders speaking and some good Union music. Plans for more are in the works. Stay tuned.
