There should be stringent laws to bring to book these criminals n the name of pharmacuetical industry. Pharma industry takes liberties in the name of experimenting on animals and humans. This should stop.
Pfizer should be brought under legal responsibility for the crime it has committed. We do not how mny such crimes have gone undetected.

Unfortunaqtely for my local environment, Pfizer's huge facility in New London, CT is a BIG BIG polluter. They are an important economic resource for southeastern CT, because they employ so many and that has historically been, with the exception of a few big employers like Pfizer and Electric Boat in Groton, economically barren. But Pfizer has NO RIGHT to place others in danger for their bottom line...and they do it often. Shame on them again...for the pollution and THE DEATHS of those children.

Unfortunately for my state, Pfizer has a huge plant ion New London, CT...they have always been BIG polluters but because southeastern CT is so economically depressed, they get away with that, too! SHAME on them for that and for the deaths of those innocents...all for PROFIT!

well, not just profit, it is their perverted idea of the superior race, so black children in nigeria are the same for them as the jewish children in the concentration camps, human enough to test on them, but no rights for the victims as this ideologie sees them as animals or lower. and bayer for instance doesn't work just with basf and those other "ex" nazi firms, they also work with monsanto on gm food, i write for ages about all this, but somehow nobody seems to be able to put one and one together, what happened to you all, gen manipulated already???

If you haven't seen this film, you won't understand how BIG PHARMA "exploits" people in third world countries with their drug trials, etc.

The Constant Gardener (film) - Wikipedia,

The Constant Gardener is a 2005 film based on the John le Carré novel of the same name. Directed by Fernando Meirelles (City of God) and produced by Simon ...

I think that the general public would be "shocked" if they knew the extent that BIG PHARMA guinea pigs the world. Other countries don't have our stop measures and their literally SITTING DUCKS. None of them ever get caught, or go to jail for their crimes.

What the Big Pharma global lobby has done and is doing to this poor planet is unforgivable. And equally sad, what do you want to bet this ugly crime will only lead to more inconsequential, unreliable, misleading, and UTTERLY CRUEL animal testing?

They sicken us with disease causing chemicals and "cure" us with more disease causing chemicals, and along the way, manipulate media and government to discredit and even muzzle natural or alternative methods and their practitioners! Yes, the public needs protection from quacks... but on BOTH sides of the issue!

This is so unfair to experiment on and destroy perfectly innocent children because they live in an environment where resources, quality medical care, quality food, more than efficient safe drinking water and clothing and shelter--are not readily available. Being isolated from basic amenities was not their choice but to be used for medical experimentation was not their destiny. Thank you so much for the article and posting it.

Drug companies can be very evil. Pfizer is a bad one. Lipitor caused a lot of damage to people as well. If you go to my profile and check my blog there are a couple of posts about drug companies and Pfizer is one of them. I hope they get nailed but good. They are also part of Monsanto now as well. Monsanto is not one of my favorite companies either. Pfizer also worked with the DOD to create a chemical that has the same side affects as Lipitor.
Monsanto well Agent Orange, everyone has hard of it.

I read about these companies doing unethical tests in different third world countries. Inmany of these countries it is easy to recruit people because they do not have money to pay for medications so they take whatever they are given. In other words, they use the poor people of these countries as guniea pigs. Boycott and criticism are the only ways that may make these companies change their behaviour because they only understand the language of money and profits.

And people wonder why I don't vaccinate my children, despite all the assurances from Big Pharma that it's perfectly safe. Gee...I wonder. I mean, golly, they're so trustworthy and all...

And now they're trying to get the FDA to make alternative therapies, herbal medicine, and things like that illegal if not administered by an MD. Go here: for more information.

It is not just happening there. In Wisconsin and Virginia there are covance labs that do animal testing. They test poison, chemicals, toxins, drugs on these aimals then they incinerate them. This in turn spews all those said toxins into your air and water. Drug companies are poisoning your children right here in America, and other countries that have labs like this. This is nothing new, and is happening right here!!!!!

This is just plain cruel and stupid! Exerimenting on people? It is bad enough they need to use animals, but they can't stop and have to go to people? It is just sad what they are doing. It would be better if they weren't testing children, maybe convicts and stupid bullies and punks, maybe. There are some types of people we do not need alive, but one of those are not the children.

"BILL MOYERS: With the price of prescription drugs going up and up, politicians of both parties have promised to help old people with the cost. But with a flourish of the old magic — now you see it, now you don't — Senators recently killed the legislation and adjourned to their favorite pastime, raising money for reelection from pharmaceutical companies and other kindred souls. Buying all that influence in Congress is one reason drug costs go up. So is the money — two to three billion dollars a year — the companies spend trying to persuade us to buy their drugs. You know the ads in question. They keep telling us 'to ask your doctor' about the wonders of some expensive new drug. Ok, we'll ask the doctor. We'll ask him for a second opinion about those ads. "

There is soooooo much torture, death, disease, poisoning, disablement etc etc caused by pharmaceuticals, I still am beyond understanding why the goverment & of course the majority of the public are allowing this to carry on!? I know I spend a great deal of time getting the true cost of vivisection out to as many people as I can, hopefully we will win this fight, but at what cost????!!!!

It is BAD enough that there are millions of orphaned and dying children in Africa, to be this CALLUS is just simply EVIL. And the topper is that their drugs are some of the ones needed to keep patients alive and healthy on the North American continent and also in Europe ,and then the rest of the world as well . Shall we sacrifice ourselves or a family member,to boycott?? We must be very careful how we sound here as the hypocrisy is running rampant.

Lamargo, are you talking about pharmaceutical drugs? If you are I'd just like to let you know that Glaxo, Pfizer, P & G etc are never gonna cure people, the point is animal testing does NOT work!!! The only way your family are gonna be healthy is not to put useless pharma drugs inside them & instead use natural cures. Personally I have no need for anything of the kind as I'm very healthy, Vegan, Straightedge & NO pharma for many years, I refuse to be another statistic!

If the whole truth about the pharmaceutical companies and how they are "in bed with"the FDA and HMO's were known, it would make all the scaremongers about assassination plots and the World Bank look like child'splay. Even big oil can't hold a candle to this.
Other US Govt testing on people has included spraying large areas of farmland in and around Missouri in the 1950's which ended up in our drinking milk. My brother, a Vietnam vet, is an agent orange victim and has tumors all over his body--"benign, but poisonous" if his weight drops under 200 lbs. because the toxins are released by the fat cells. Utah and Nevadans of my parents generation have died in geographic "cancer clusters" as "Downwinders"of atomic bomb testing. Some few reparations have been made--far too little, much too late! Prisoners had all sorts of horrible tests done on them in the 1950's under then secret govt. programs, it included being injected with diseases. btw, now they want to start underground nuclear testing again in the Nevada desert--THIS time it is supposed to be safe! Evil, evil,evil--we must fight to get the word out, and not just exclaim in horror, or we are as bad as those who looked the other way in Nazi Germany. This may sound silly--but if ANYONE has knowledge and conections to get this story onto Oprah, you can bet millions will know!!!!!

No Lamargo, that's NOT a way round it at all, it doesn't mean the drug will work!!! Lets say a drug was tested on you & given to me, I can guarentee there are things you're allergic to & other things for me etc. eg. I get prickly heat so have to use sun protection & I was telling my friend this only yesterday... he said he NEVER had to use sun protection & had never heard of prickly heat! There are many women in India and Puerto Rico who lost their uteruses and their ability to have children so that American Women can have a safer birth control pill.

Are you willing to be the guinea pig? If not a rabbit, a cat, a dog, a cow or another human, then who should these new breakthrough drugs be tested on? Or should they NOT be tested? Who's going to find out if it's a breakthrough or a failure???

Yes it is horrible to lose any life needlessly and recklessly. But I have a question; who should the test be done on?? If not animals and not humans....who, how and where should these tests be conducted.

If you're healthy and you don't need medication, it's easy to stand and protest and criticize. But if you have a rare illness or any illness, disease, ailment, pain, depression, or disorder, where current AVAILABLE medicines are ineffective....are you going to do the experiment on yourself? And where should those drugs come from and who should be tested and treated first? Your children, your mother, your father, your sister or should the experiments be tested only on YOU?

As horrible as the Holocust was and how horrible the Nazi's were.....none the less, their experiments have solved many mysteries and have created many inventions that has HELPED BILLIONS of people world wide.

On the backs of the helpless, the weak and the ignorant; civilizations have been formed, made stronger and have moved on to conquer others.

It's up to YOU if you are going to be that person. So if you want no testing done onto animals or other human beings...then YOU should sign up to be the guinea pig for the pharmecuetical agencies who are trying to save the world, one pill at a time. That's of course if you don't mind being in pain or if you don't mind watching a loved one die because the experimental drug has not been thoroughly tested...since there are no test subjects to be tested???

Past Member (0)
Monday June 4, 2007, 9:46 am
There is NO need to do tests on non-human animals or human animals that haven't or can't give their permission. I don't know how many times I have to answer this question for those who can't EDUCATE themselves!!!
Cell culture
Using human cells and tissues from biopsies, post-mortems, placentas, or as waste from surgery, and grow them in a lab. Cell cultures contributed enormously to understanding the mechanisms of cancer, Parkinson’s disease, etc.
Analytical technology
Technological advances have resulted in improved molecular methods for analysing and identifying new compounds and medicines.
Tests with microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, yeasts and algae are used as indicators of chemicals likely to be harmful and are frequently faster, cheaper and more humane than animal tests. Bacteria can be genetically manipulated to manufacture useful products previously obtained from animals, such as human insulin and monoclonal antibodies.
Computer models
Computers are used to model the structure and actions of new drugs to predict their safety. Computer models of whole biological systems are being used with which ‘virtual’ experiments can be conducted.
There are various computer models, including the human placenta and foetus which assist the treatment of problems affecting unborn babies; also the human jaw and teeth for dental research. Computer models are based on relevant human data so can be used to carry out simulated experiments. There is also mathematical modelling to improve cancer treatments, and to explore illnesses of ageing.
There is much more info on ethical research, look up Hans Ruesch & Prof G. Francione for more excellent information!

Past Member (0)

One of the best ways to conduct medical research is by studying the whole human. There is scanning and imaging techniques that make it possible to conduct safe and ETHICAL studies of human VOLUNTEERS.
There's a variety of sophisticated imaging techniques to investigate the human body, these include scanning to study epileptic patients; investigating various pains in patients plus studying the function of the human brain in healthy volunteers.

Fiona W (162)

Well it certainly bears out the notion "if they can do this do animals they can do it to children". And I agree Panda Queen, we use Cell culture and imaging techniques. Either way experimenting on people and sentient creatures who cannot or do not give their consent is never ethical.

If you think this is bad, you should read "Emerging Viruses: Aids and Ebola, Nature, Accident or Intentional?" by Leonard G. Horowitz. You'll see that this is just one in a loooooong line of offenses against the developing world and our own "undesirables". Doesn't surprise me in the least.

Monday June 4, 2007, 5:49 pm

I do just want to point out that the article has one factual flaw: It says that not since Nazi Germany and IG Farben has a pharmaceutical company been tried criminally by a government. That isn't true. The company that produced Thalidomide WAS criminally charged, but the resolution of it was mutually agreed upon after over a year long trial so they were never actually convicted. But, they WERE charged.

Rebecca S (160)
Monday June 4, 2007, 6:04 pm
Yikes....and now to continue after reading a few more of these postings....

Damaris states his/her position quite clearly in the comment of "On the backs of the helpless, the weak and the ignorant; civilizations have been formed, made stronger and have moved on to conquer others." That statement indicates that it is okay for the "stronger" to exploit and use and conquer the "weaker". Ignorant little sh*t.

97% of ALL MEDICAL ADVANCES have been made without the use of animal experiments. One thing Panda Q left out (though her answer was right on!!!!) was also to study the disease(s) AS IT OCCURS IN PEOPLE. Epidemiology: The branch of medicine that deals with the study of the causes, distribution, and control of disease in populations.

This is the MOST important part of conquering disease....understanding how it occurs in the first place. Yet, there isn't the big money to be made from this, is there?

Jeffrey Coolwater (148)

Here is an established, reputable UK medical research charity funding exclusively NON-animal techniques to replace animal experiments, benefiting humans and animals:

Read their "about us" page for more info. So many many people against animal cruelty donate to medical charities completely unaware their money is supporting the animal cruelty they detest. And with every passing year there are more and more alternatives that the "industry" doesn't want us to hear about! Of course without big advertising budgets and powerful lobbies, we don't!

And please sign and pass on their Petition to Replace EU Animal Tests.

I hope everyone realizes, that Big Pharma, and International corporations like Pfizer, are MUCH BIGGER THAN THE GOVERNMENT OF ANY NATION, including the U.S. A lot of these corporations are based in Switzerland; but they are MUCH BIGGER THAN THE GOVERNMENT OF SWITZERLAND, bigger than the govt of any European country; and certainly much bigger than the government of any of the "third-world" countries where they habitually do their testing on humans. Just so you know what you are up against here.
You think the U.S. govt is "powerful" -- but Big Pharma companies are MORE POWERFUL THAN THE U.S. GOVT has any means of control.
You could not get a boycott going in every country in the world. People are brainwashed to think they "need" these drugs, which in fact are used to "control" environmental diseases never-heard-of-before. People are universally brainwashed from school-age on, to think their "traditional" remedies are no good; besides, the land where the "traditional" remedies, often plant remedies, grow, is being rapidly DESTROYED and so these remedies become INACCESSIBLE.
Just so you know what you are up against. We have to totally eliminate the present forms of capitalism and Imperialism first. These companies will remain above and beyond the laws of any country until that happens.

You are so right BMutiny! I am constantly telling people that they don't NEED pharma drugs and I get particularly annoyed when I see those who say they are anti-vivisectionist but they still use all kinds of pharma rubbish.
Those who haven't read Slaughter of the Innocent or Naked Empress by Hans Ruesch, then they definitely should. These books should be given to those who believe that vivisection works!

Viagra Made Me Blind
By Delevan H. Barrett

Believe me. I'll never forget it was the week of Valentine’s Day in Bangor Maine 2002. Upon leaving my doctors office for an annual checkup getting and receiving clean bill of health.
I was questioning the doctor if he had any sample of the little blue pill (Viagra).
He gave me a sample of nine. There were no warnings on the bottle in regard to harmful effects.

That night I took one Viagra pill at approx 10:00 pm awaiting for the inevitable result to begin. It was very disappointing that that pill didn’t work. The next night I took another pill hoping for better luck.
Nothing transpired again so decided to put them away and thus forgetting about them.

Two days latter my eyes were getting a little fuzzy. I thought I was coming down with the FLU so I went to bed about 11:00 pm.

At about 4:00 am I awoke to the sound of my TV but could not see the screen. I turned on my bed side lamp also to find that there was no light visible. I couldn't see anything out of both eyes. Hence I went to the Hospital via Taxi.
The Bangor Medical Center (Very good hospital) took my problem seriously and ran test on my eyes and determined that both of my optic nerves had died. With that, about 45 blood and chemistry test were performed over a three week period; they took consideration of all my other medications and my diet and they still couldn't find out why I suddenly went blind.

Upon review of my list of medications with a Pharmacist and the fact that Viagra was on the list
It was discovered that approx 500 other Men went blind after using Viagra. Most of them had lost only one eye. However I was on of the unlucky two that went totally blind in both eyes.

A few years later A Class Action Lawsuit was filed against Pfizer in Minneapolis Minn where the first case occurred.

After about two and a half years of deliberation the Judge found that there was no proof that Viagra caused Blindness even though by that time there were 500 other cases documented; the Judge said that the 36 hour time delay in causing blandness could've been caused by something else. Pfizer offered us a $1000.00 settlement to sort of set a gag order that some of the 500 took. but I decided to reject the offer because I wanted to spread awareness so others wont be affected by this drug like I was.

Now I am living here alone in Asbury Park New Jersey ten years later sitting here blind in both eyes spreading the word nationally about the in-fairness I received from a big business such as Pfizer and the Handling of this issue by the U.S. Government.

Does any one want to help me?
