"President George W. Bush appointed Negroponte to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations in February 2001, and after substantial opposition from Senate Democrats the nomination was ratified by the Senate on September 15, 2001, four days after the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United State." from Wikipedia.

Is John Negroponte the same man who had a "Hit List" in the Pentagon a few years ago and was quickly withdrawn or was the "List" by another Negroponte?

I looked up his history on a few different sources and John comes out a little too "clean"...

Mark, what is your take on John and how does he "factor" in the negotiations in Pakistani.

Here's a backgrounder:

Bush appoints a Terrorist as US Ambassador to Iraq

Let's just say that diplomacy is not his strong suit.

Well as far as Bush and his minions are concerned. Everyone is a terrorist, even if your not involved or ever been involved in a group that publicly expresses their distrust and or hate for the US.
From the story......
Pakistanis, however, have come to see the tribal areas as something entirely different: a once peaceful region where a group of militants have turned their wrath on the rest of the country as punishment for the American alliance.
This is pretty much how I have seen it also.
And.... Why is 'negotiating' so hard for our country to do? And why is it wrong?
Thanks Mark, noted!

Can they afford not to?

If you lose money, you can get more money. But if your child is killed in war you cannot bring them back from the dead.

Negroponte is an expert on death squads -- apparently they needed a new 'hit squad' leader In Iraq, having deposed the old one.
