Government auditors issued a scathing review yesterday of dozens of the Pentagon's biggest weapons systems, saying ships, aircraft and satellites are billions of dollars over budget and years behind schedule.

Include in that, the cost for iron and steel which has risen sharply, and the costs and delays will continue to mount. (Today, scrap iron rose $100.00 per ton for #1 prepared. It's now at an all time high of approx.$440.00 per ton delivered at the mills.)
