Scooby Thanks for posting and sharing. I have owned a Pit Bull in the past an She was one of the best dogs I have ever owned loyalwith unconditional love.Just like any other dog if raised in a loving home they are a wonderful breed. smarter than most humans. My point is this just like children they learn what they live. If raised with Love they Love, if raised in a abusive home they become abusive. I leaveyou with this quote
"Of all the animals, man is the only one that is cruel. He is the only one that inflicts pain for the pleasure of doing it." –Mark Twain
It is not the breeds fault it is mankind that is cruel.

People are so ignorant, Pit Bulls are the most gentle and loyal dogs on earth. My neighbor has two and they are wonderful, she rescued them when they were babies. Poor dogs get a bad rap and stupid people believe it. No wonder there is so much animal cruelty in the world. I voted yes.

I have had many more concerns about neighbours and people in general than I have ever had about animals - except for the way people treat animals. That is a major concern.
Of the 71% who have voted No, I wonder how many have much understanding of dogs anyway. Many people are afraid of any dog.

Of course. It's not the breed, it's the owner. An idiotic uninvolved owner produces a dog that is out of control. Some of the worst damage I ever saw was the attack on an elderly lady walking by a Chihuahua's home that was not fenced.

Oh NO Scooby Snacks...you wasted a star...I'm sorry to say but I think what's done is done :(. That's ok he probably doesn't get many and us Pitbull lovers can maybe shine a little light his way...very dark where he's at.

Voted yes, because the worst attack against me was from a Jack Russell Terrier who did a damn good job of mangling my hands. He was a relatives dog and apparently didn't like jewelry like bangles on ladies hands and I didn't know this and rocked up for visit and got attacked and mauled, well and good. My point is all dogs if not educated right could attack, it comes down to good parenting. All this paranoia about one particular breed...The Bull Terrier...Is poppy cock. Educate and work with your dog, make sure the family are all alpha dogs in order of who is the most dominant. In our household my hubby is alpha dog and I'm second alpha and Henny is third dog at the bottom of pack. She is a beautiful girly dog, well behaved and so cute. Thank you for posting this interesting survey about the bias against bull terriers. As someone remarked the breed was played with and bred to be what it is by humans for their own gratification with no thought of the consequences long into the future and now a % of humans want to throw them to the curb just like garbage. A typical human thing to do, when of no use or not fashionable to own, just kill it or chuck it out and leave it to it's own devices and then when it breeds and becomes feral, well naturally that's the animals fault. Not the humans, no never the humans fault. I'm fed up with a lot of my kind because they are so avaricious, out of site and out of mind humans who shouldn't own an animal or for that matter have kids. Just thinking out loud. There you have my rant for this late afternoon Sunday the 19th April. Noted, read and shared. . .

UNABLE to vote without a "third choice" of IT DEPENDS on HOW that neighbor is handling their dog(s). ARE they running or subscribing to ANY dog-fighting? OR are they being responsible owners and NOT subscribing to any of dog-fighting? WHERE is *THAT* choice? is is not in any "yes-no" BLIND answers! We need that THIRD choice of "ONLY *IF* the owner is in NO way connected or subscribing to ANY dog-fighting!!! "

I don't mind the dogs as they are, the main and real problems tend to be the owners. Are they neglectful and-or abusive? Are they involved in dog-fighting in any way? OR are they responsible and careful good owners? The problem is always the owners. If ANY dog gets loosed to attack any humans the judge will ask whether the dog was either confined or leashed. Off the leashes the owners of ANY dogs who bite ANY persons are liable. Therefore we NEED a second SET of answers that include "good" owners OR " irresponsible owners?" THAT is where our answers will be in agreement!

YES< YES< YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This amps me up so bad!!!!!!!!! The ONLY good thing about the town I live in is there are a LARGE percentage of people in it that own Pit Bulls. MOST (unfortunately not all) are responsible, loving owners. I am one of them. None of my neighbors has bothered me or mine (well, maybe theirs kids when they were younger and stooopid) but mine have never terrorized the neighborhood. Here or any other place I have lived. I just do not get it that because of a dog's BREED, some people think they should automatically be 'put down'. ignorance is dangerous not 'bliss'.

I would RATHER have a Pit Bull living next door than the registered sex offender that lives up the street, or the one that lives down the corner, or finding out that the school has a beloved, teacher for 24 years in the community has been molesting young boys (true story - just happened at my grandson's school - guilty sentenced for 25 years), or the radical racist that smiles in your face and despise every being of you. I can go on and one but to sum in up humans will ALWAYS BE THE MOST FRIGHTENING SPECIES ON THIS PLANET. Started off that way and will end up that way.

Voted Yes. I do not mind any breed and don't believe in "bad breeds", as long as ownes are really responsible and train their dogs.
And keep them on leashes. Lots of love and long walks takes care of the rest. It's a different story with "bad humans", some of them are untrainable and everyone blames the dog...

Honestly, SOME individual piities make me nervous, although I have met many many sweet ones. Its a look they have in their eyes that make me leery....as a matter of fact I have rescued at least 7 off the streets in the last 5 years...they slept in my home with my dog and cat with no issues...but we have had 2 running the streets killing cats and the owners dont care. They were told and were like 'Oh again? one bit the head off of a cat yesterday.." This guy is a PASTOR for Gods sake! I have a next door neighbor with one and when the dog sees a cat, she tries to jump the fence..as a matter of fact she has bitten me, although it didnt break the skin. The owner NEVER watches her or any of her other dogs. I still voted yes because it DOES depend on the owner and the breeding. We have idiots around here breeding and giving them to other idiots. they use them for hog hunting so they get that taste of blood then get loose.. The dogs get out and when together they get that pack mentality, but its ONLY such a 'big deal' with pitties because they cause alot of damage.. and that myth about their jaws being the strongest is wrong.. actually rotties have the strongest jaws of all doggies. the above comment is true...first it was chows, then shepards, then rotties now pitties...whats next? I dont agree with any kind of ban but I do agree with making sure the dog (ANY DOG) is fixed, with shots. with an utd license. period. If a dog is PROVEN to be aggressive and bite someone or something, they USUALLY should be put down, depends on the circumstances!...a friends tiny munchkin was attacked by a pittie, the dog was quarantined and then let out..(it went after others as well)...that same dog got thru the front door of that same friends home and murdered her other tiny munchkin in her living room. That dog was proven aggressive and should never have been let go. now Ive seen so many petitions about dogs going to be put to sleep with no proof at all and thats not what I mean. if they want to start banning things they should start with the most destructive murdering species and start with humans

I will not mind living next door to any animal but I clearly understand people who is afraid of Pitbulls and other dogs in that category because there often are a stupid human in the end of the rope...
What happens here is not okay and in this case I Think the dog will be the Winner if he can be allowed to cross the Rainbow bridge peacefully or be taken care of by a human who know this breed.
Maybe a solution could be, that people owning breads like this must have a licens as this is dangerous in the wrong hands. I have voted yes

I have a Staffordshire Terrier she is a lovely little girl. She sleeps with me and my husband at night at my feet!
She wakens me if she thinks I'm in trouble as I have Asthma. She also wakens me or her dad when she wants her cover over her if it falls off. She is just over 10years now and has never hurt anyone. Even when my little grand daughter comes she cuddles her.
She sleeps on my lap when I watch TV and falls asleep. She loves to play with a sausage rope! Her tail wags like a little propeller. I absolutely adore her and will break my heart if she goes to heaven before me. As she will leave a massive space in my heart. Don't blame a little dog because of its breed. Any dog going to an evil person that wants to torture and torment it will cause any dog to turn nasty! Any dog getting a kind loving owner
You get a loving kind dog that is loyal as you could ask for. If you want a dog that's like a baby then Staffordshire and Pits are the biggest babies in the dog world you can find. Don't be like Hitler and that categorized people. Look what he caused. Dog prejudice is just as bad as racism amongst people. It's not right with people it is not right for dogs.

The Bit Bull used to be called The Nanny Dogs and now these days the guys with small dick are making these Pit Bulls some sort of MANHOOD prove! Treat them badly and make them angry!

Unfortunately, a large majority of nearly 10,000 No, and at the same measly 3000 Yes. However, does not surprise me. If you knew what I've all had experience in the beautiful and super-rich Switzerland with my female Doberman Ilara is just cowardly and disgusting! Killer dogs and more like I had so totally nice neighbors lubricated at the door in the anonymity! And the walks I found already prepared several pieces of sausage with rat poison or razor found. Well ,,, what more can I say! Cowardice, mixed indifference with stupidity gives the typical average person and exactly this has brought there the world where it is today, virtually destroyed the environment, animal cruelty, human rights violations around the world, wars, every day perish miserably tens of thousands from starvation, selfishness, and that thinking only of themselves! Addendum: I personally prefer 10 Dobermans, Pit Bulls or Rottweilers at my home, as only one average person!

I would have absolutely no problem with my neighbour having these wonderful dogs as part of their family. Pit bulls are amazingly loyal and loving dogs. They are no different from any other dog breeds. What is different about them is that for some strange reason they have become the dog to be used for illegal dogfighting and this has earned them a reputation as a 'tough' breed. This is what scum human beings have done to this dog. They have cursed this breed which is now wrongly stereotyped as a 'problem.' Well, the problem lies with human beings that are essentially criminals engaging in acts against the law. They are the problem, not the dogs. They are in control, not the dogs and it is time that the Federal government stepped in to address this illegal dogfighting that is happening all over the U.S.
