I just woke up and will have to consider what this is and it's implications. On one hand we don't want to have so many animals that they end up in shelters and are having to be put down. So many animals are dying simply due to not having enough homes.

On the other hand is funnels all further obtainment of animals to the pet stores and if the puppy and cat mills are not better run we have animals that are pushing out litter after litter to keep those stores supplied. Many puppy and cat mills are disgraceful in the lack of care they give to the animals.

I think a better policy is to encourage people to spay and neuter their animals backed by a low cost program so those with limited funds can do so and an educational program to encourage people to do so. Also there is a push over in the USA for No Kill Shelters. I'm not for mandatory things, however, breaks my heart to see so many dogs and cats destroyed each year. I guess I could honestly vote unsure on this one.

Sorry AniMae, if people can provide me with more information as to how they feel on this I'll read it all and vote after reading their debate pro and con. Or perhaps I just need to wake up.....haven't had my tea yet. Tracking and will vote later.

Noted and voted. Shared on Facebook and Twitter. It seems strange because we only associate these awful 'stray animal' culls as occurring in the third world or places like China. Terrible to think 10,000 dogs killed last year. Dreadful. That has to stop.

Okay, AniMae. I had my tea, eyes are open, brain is functioning. Just a slow go this morning was up late last night and up early, with one of my cats who insists I get up BEFORE the birds each day. Sigh. So I re-read it again and clicked on yes.....thanks for your patience.

Of course I voted a clear YES. Well, you could say it is against nature, but only with castration or sterilisation can be kept somewhat in check street or strey animals!

Noted. And voted no. As the owner of two registered house dogs, I would not want to be mandatorily told that I had to have them de-sexed. We do have a mandatory leash law for animals that are outside. But then I don't live in Australia. Interesting. HUGS TO ALL WHO CARE FROM TEXAS

Noted & voted yes.Unless you are a registered breeder, then there is NO reason to have entire animals running around creating more animals that may ultimately be destroyed. I don't understand that a random group of only 35 people will be asked their opinion, how ridiculous. When you consider that 10,000 dogs in just one state are put down, if you crunch the numbers, the total number of animals destroyed in this country every year is abhorrent. Another reason to ban the sale of animals from pet shops, because we all know where they are sourced from.

I voted Yes, AniMae thank you for sending this to me.

Reason - Backyard puppy breeders - roaming dogs and over-run shelters and death.

I think people think puppies are cute children ask parents for a puppy then ignore it, and it ends up on the street or in a shelter.

Here in San Diego/most of California they only have 3 days to live in a shelter.
