One of the greatest Hollywood celebrities of the 20th Century held racist views that today would brand him a bigoted buffoon.

You know how damn depressing it is to find out that a man your own parents may have idolized was so ignorant in his values?!

I never knew he was so......... so horrible in the way he thought about Native Americans. Also shows how we may feel a person is a great actor/actress but can also be a horrible human being. It's so very sad that an icon like John Wayne thought the way he did. Makes me wonder what other thoughts he had that make him a horrible person with regards to other humans.

Sorry but I wish that the world would stop this looking back, he like 100's of others was a person of his time, reading something in Playboy magazine, that is 44 years old, and then making a big thing about it, that to me is sad.
By the way I was and am still not a fan of John Wayne as I do not think he was a great actor!

Enjoyed his movies, but never knew he was so conservative...will still enjoy the movies, but not much respect for the man anymore. Thanx Dale.

Was Ronald Reagan a great actor, 'cause he sure was a lousy President.

I don't see anything he said as making him a terrible human being.
