The terror act waged on the city of Paris again demonstrates how the West's so-called war on terror works - or doesn't work. The extremists on both sides of this divide claim Paris a victory. For the innocent, it is another senseless and painful tragedy.

Blame everybody but the terrorists who chose to pick up the guns and murder for their unholy cause.

The attacks in Paris are chicken feed compared to the attacks condoned and carried out by Mohammed and his henchmen against the kaffur as graphically described in the Koran. ALL Muslims see Mohammed as "The perfect example of a man" who should be emulated in every way. All Muslims unquestionably take the Koran at face value and interpretation is seen as heresy. Blaming this on the "West's war on terror" or any others outside of jess b's religion exhibits either a high level of taqqiya (Islamic legalised lying) or just plain old fashioned gross ignorance.

Barbara; Getting ready to be shaved for a sheitel, wearing long skirts, long sleeves and dressing modestly. It is not only Muslims that have restrictive dress codes. We understand that that people who pick up guns are terrorists first - and that is the people that have to be confronted that violence is never an answer. There are always fanatics and orthodox people in every religion. IT is the fanaticism and resorting to violence that has to be addressed. How does it feel to have so much hatred in your heart Barbara?

Noted. Thanks, Jess. As others have stated above---religion seems to attract fanatics.....who are mentally ill. Then, as a group, they feed off each others' madness.

Yes, but darlin' darlene, you're confusing small Jewish sects with Judaism. People who stereotype typically do so in ignorance. These small sects live within their own communities, do not take up arms, and do not intend to take over the world and kill or enforce their beliefs on anyone.

You'd be shocked at what I am if you knew me. Hate? Not a black speck. But a great deal of dislike, even disgust, for willful ignorance and the pride people take in it.

Oh, and ros...airbrushing?....women don't exist?....once again ignorance rears it's ugly head.

Not all Muslims have restrictive dress codes like the Orthodox Jewish people and Orthodox Jewish people would claim that they are more Jewish than the secular Jewish people.(Are you saying that Orthodox Jewish people are not real Jews!?) Are you perhaps stereotyping Muslim people? Do you believe that every single Muslim person is taking up arms, wants to take over the world and are killing to force their beliefs on others. We have a large Muslim population in Canada and that is not happening with the Muslim people living here. Your prejudice and hatred is very obvious Barbara. The point is, both Jewish and Muslim people have the same issues; repressive dress Codes, people that are more orthodox than others, people that will cross the line to murder others not of their own religion. There is no difference between Muslims and Jewish people - some do not want to harm others, others believe they can murder in the name of their religion, some follow restrictive dress codes, others do not. The problem is those that believe they can murder in the name of their religion - both Muslims and Jewish people do that. People that desire peace say that there is never a justification for murder so there are those in both Israel and Palestine that have to be held accountable for crimes against humanity in the name of their religion. Remember - there are no sides, no religion or race when it comes to violence. Whoever resorts to violence as a solution is causing harm and the violence has to be stopped. The leaders of Israel are as in the wrong as Palestinian leaders that advocate violence. Defending PEACE and freedom for ALL children is the goal here.

Thanks Jess, for putting up this interesting discussion. I've seen Gearoid Ó Colmáin on other occasions and I'm always surprised how clear he states facts without any décor. I was surprised though that he didn't mention Netanyahu's visit to one of the injured ISIS leaders who was treated in an Israeli military field hospital in the occupied Golan Heights mid February - after all Bibi even posed for a cozy pic together with his Defense Min as well as the rebel! Equally absent from the discussion were the number of meetings John McCain had with the leadership of ISIS and equally captured on pic. In those days they were the cuddled "rebels" so it was a great thing to be pictured with these "brave man" ...!

War and fear mongers all of them and the worst hypocrites who exploit any and all situation for their own gain and benefit -

Dear Ros - I just love your comments - LOL! As for those "modesty" obsessed people - there are roughly 1.3 Mio of Haredi; a minority which can't be ignored I'd think although some would want us to believe otherwise.

Dear Darlene - "The problem is those that believe they can murder in the name of their religion - both Muslims and Jewish people do that." Did you forget the Christians who do the very same? And please do not omit the Palestinian Christians from the discourse - they suffer equally under the brutal Israeli occupation. They just get time and again blanked out ... again for ulterior motives (no, you don't do that, I know!).

Listen carefully again to what Gearoid Ó Colmáin sais: Prof B. Lewis coined the term "Clash of Civilization" in 1992 and late S. Huntington worked it into a book with the same title in 1997. We're supposed to forget what Orthodox Jews and Orthodox Christians do (also to their women) and focus on Muslims only. The witch hunt is open and we're only allowed to focus on Muslims. No one else should disturb our discourse or get our Islamophobes off track. Everyone else is a "fringe minority" whereas ALL the Muslims are to be wiped off the face of the earth ... or something like that.

I just heard an interesting piece of news: a European Jewish Organization (didn't get the name) demands the right for Jews in Europe to carry weapons because 4 Jews lost their lives. Now ... what about the thousands of non-Jews who lose their lives in violent crimes? No, they don't count. We have to get that straight ... one day we sure will. I wouldn't be surprised if this demand would be entertained!

Just read this item on Haaretz - the Israeli daily newspaper - which is perfectly in line with our ongoing debate all over Care2 about "Freedom of Expression and Speech" ... something which I re-named into "Freedom of Oppression" or rather "Freedom to Oppress":

"Veteran CNN anchor Jim Clancy stepped down on Friday, one week after a series of Twitter posts in which he mocked pro-Israel tweeters on a thread discussing the Charlie Hebdo massacre.

Neither CNN nor Jim Clancy gave a reason for his departure, which was reported by AdWeek. Clancy had worked at CNN for 34 years. [How can they without admitting to the immense pressure they came under?]

Although Clancy’s Twitter account no longer existed as of Thursday, the tweets have been preserved on a number of websites, including Twitchy and Mediaite, and by Tablet journalist Yair Rosenberg."

Freedom of Expression and Speech anyone?

Yes, Ros, THIS and all other double standards are so totally wrong and backfire eventually - plain and simple logic! Lots of stars to you too if only I could!!
