Jordan has denounced, in the strongest terms, the ongoing Israeli violations and provocations against Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem.

Israeli extremists, early Sunday, broke into the mosque’s compound in occupied Jerusalem’s Old City, in large numbers, under Israeli police protection, raising Israeli flags and provoking confrontations with Muslim devotees and the Islamic Waqf guards, there.

Videos from PNN correspondence showed Israeli special forces violently attack Palestinians in the mosque, in midst of Israeli settlers chanting pro-Israeli slogans.

Jordan’s State Minister for Media Affairs and official government spokesman, Mohammed Momani, said that the Jordanian embassy in Tel Aviv had lodged a protest with the Israeli foreign ministry, expressing the kingdom’s strong condemnation of “such irresponsible behavior” and demanding an immediate halt to these actions.

Petra news agency reported, according to WAFA, on the minister stating that such rejected practices, which are perpetrated by extremist groups under the protection of Israeli police, violate the sanctity of the holy place, inciting worshipers and Muslims throughout the world.

He said that the raids into the holy site are also in breach of Israel’s obligations as the occupying power in East Jerusalem under international law and the international humanitarian law, and run against all international norms and conventions that emphasize the respect of the places of worship of all religions.

Momani stressed that maintaining calm at the Haram Al Sharif comes through the respect for the existing historical and legal status and the management of the holy shrine by the Jerusalem Waqf religious authority.

The minister held the Israeli government fully responsible for the safety of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the violations by extremist groups and settlers.

He called for the immediate cessation of such provocations, preservation of the historical status quo in the holy shrine and respect for Jordan’s role as custodian of the holy sites in East Jerusalem, which was recognized by the peace treaty between the two countries.

SHAME on Israeli authorities for failing to control such efforts by this extremist Zionist group -

IF the site is also holy to Jews (and according to a number of Israeli scholars, that is not certain) - how can "religious" Jews behave in such a way on a site they (supposedly) consider holy?????

UK: Jews deliver message of condemnation to Israel

In a message to world leaders, international organization of Orthodox Jews against Zionism reiterates support for Palestine.

The anti-Zionist Neturei Karta organization has delivered a message of support and solidarity to Palestine as well as one of criticism and condemnation to Israel over its treatment of Palestinian civilians.

In a meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan Monday evening, Elahanan Beck, the chief rabbi of Neturei Karta, said “we have to realize and understand -- helping the state of Israel is not in the favor of Jewish people”.

“The Zionists say they want to make a safe haven for Jewish people, they want to help Jews… but this is untrue. The most dangerous place today for Jewish people -- not to speak for Palestinians, but even for Jews -- is in the state of Israel,” Beck said.

Praising Erdogan for withdrawing Turkey’s ambassador to Israel after the opening of the new U.S. embassy in Jerusalem, Beck said: “If you want to help the Jewish people, follow the example of what the Turkish president did: withdraw your ambassador from there and come out in the clear”.

Tensions have risen in the region after President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in December and ordered the opening of a new U.S. embassy in the disputed and occupied city, a decision that has earned him global criticism and has broken many agreements regarding Jerusalem’s status.

At least 62 Palestinian demonstrators on the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel who were protesting the embassy’s inauguration were killed Monday by the Israeli Defense Forces.

The killings have sparked a global outcry, with many world leaders condemning Israel, which claimed it was in self-defense.

“We are against the state of Israel. We are against occupiers, and we have to bring peace to the region,” Beck added.
