Pirates kidnapped a record number of seafarers in 2010 in an "alarming" escalation of the crisis centred on Somalia, a maritime watchdog said on Tuesday. Across the globe, pirates hijacked 53 ships and kidnapped 1,181 seafarers last year...

Yes, German ships are often target of pirates there. The crews get rests of food only.
I don´t know why nobody can stop it. Mafias shall be chiefs of pirates. The more peoole the more poverty thw more mafias.

It's a good business. Why nobody investigates who is the arm deliverer of the Somali pirates and who collect the big money? The salaries of the Somali pirates are very low. I pray every month for my husband and his crew. Noted without hope, thank you Tarequl for posting.

Poor people that are working to make an honest living and have to risk their life for a job. Someone needs to develop security for ships....electricity if you touch the hull????

They don't look as picturesque as the pirates in the movies. There has to be a concerted effort to discourage them.
