What happened to Phoebe Prince was an act of barbaric cruelty against humanity. Please sign to ensure stricter laws against bullying. Thank you everyone and God bless.

What a lovely innocent young girl. Her whole life ahead of her cut short because? Just read the shameful horrid story on the net. How can young people be so misguided to express such evil behaviour? Bullying must not only be banned from existence, but children must be nurtured and cultivated right from the beginning. Never can we allow young people to become so derailed that they can hurt someone in this manner. The sadness is immeasurable. What did this poor girl go through.
I have to wonder where were the adults. School teachers, parents? Such a mystery. So much hate for nothing. A similar story comes to mind in the British boarding school where a bunch of girls got together to harass a girl who they chose to pick of for unknown reasons.. They caught the girl in the toilet room and at least 5 of them beat her. I remember the head master making them stand in in front of the whole school in morning assembly and calling them amazons. They were ridiculed. Bullying is rampant is such schools and the teachers are more than aware of it. The question where is this hate seeded and how does it grow? I find it inconceivable that it cannot be stopped dead in its tracks just like so much else that does not help humanity.

Thanks Audrey for the post....Henriette for the fwd and Agnes for putting in the link to sign. There has to be harsh laws imposed on those who bully.and I don't give a damn what their age is. This poor girl did not not have to die. Letting this issue slide ...will only bring about more of the same

There is no room for bullying in any school. It is the responsibility of parents to teach their kids about bullying and that it is unacceptable. During school hours, it is the teacher's responsibility to teach kids that bullying is wrong and to see that it doesn't happen. Yes I hold you responsible. What if a bullied child, now dead from suicide or murder, were the one destined to cure cancer! or have children raised in a loving home where dreams were possible. Think about that!

Dear Calliope:
I think this is more about peer pressure than hate.Hate I think is something more personal and this was a group. This is the eternal competence.More beautiful, more intelligent, good notes, nicer friends, better position, envy,!. Or mocking others for something group "tag" as a deffect to make them feel better, superior, powerful. If parents could only teach their children to detect that complex of inferiority, they woud be better prepare to deal with that.My kids are adults now and were never bullied (they were prepared anyway) What I would do:
1 - A reunion with teachers, principal and social worker.(let them know #2)
2 - The next time (and every time) an incident happens again, police and social worker will be called right there.
3 - A personal visit to the police station to let know your kid may be at risk.
4 - With all info and copy of you notification to the police, a visit to dept of education. Normally they would be calling social worker. This weights a lot. (social workers & kids = good match)
5 - Bring the kid to a psychologist . If you can, from time to time a visit to school to ask how things are going. This will bring teacher (s) to an aware position.By then they will already know about Dept of education and or social worker. None of this cost money. Are free services to the public pay by tax payers with the best intention on making a better country. Nothing wrong with it. - Parents of kids committing bullying may not even be aware because they show a fac'ade. They may look like pretty normal kids that come and go as "any" other kid. Kids that can deal with ever day day challenges. "Normal kids"! This way you don't even have to talk with the other kid or his (her) parents unless required by school, dep education, social worker or police and they would be present if this occur. - Schools must be called to a reorganization because kids are under their responsibility and that is why a social worker should always be aware of everything related to students and day to day in school. A social worker can call Dept of family (and police, hospitals, dep education, attourneys, courts etc...) and make things walk differently. And schools too. - Always, always know your social worker! - Nobody say No to a social worker.
If her parents were failing, someone must have known, suspect about this, something ! and should have called social worker & dept of family if necessary. Thank You Audrey !Signed and shared. Thanks Sophia for forwarding!
