"No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite..."

I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice.

~Albert Einstein~

The most shocking fact about war is that its victims and its instruments are individual human beings, and that these individual beings are condemned by the monstrous conventions of politics to murder or be murdered in quarrels not their own.

~Aldous Huxley~

"...The horrors of war are unimaginable to those of us who have never had to suffer through the daily terror of fear, injury and death that is war. But we need to imagine. The horrific reality of war may be one of the few instruments with the power to motivate the human community to find ways to resolve differences and disputes without feeling compelled to resort to armed conflict. We all lose when we default to violence. The losses from war throughout human history should wake us up to the absolute necessity of finding ways to forge peace..."

So much pain and suffering around this world. Sad thing, it really doesn't have to be. There is enough for all if we all would live as brothers and sisters. We all come from the same Mother.....our Earth. We are all made of the star dust. After eons, is this unfortunate state is what we've become......truly sad.

Thanks a lot Ben - I'd send you lots of GS if only I could! Here's my favourite quote:

"I could not sleep that night and spent it thinking of those who were around me and those who were far away in the trenches [he speaks of the 1948 war]. I thought about war itself. I felt from the depths of my heart that I hated war. Not only this particular war in which we were engaged, but the idea of war itself. I felt that humanity does not deserve the honour of life if it does not strive with all its heart in the cause of peace."

(Gamal Abdel Nasser, late President of Egypt, in his (unfinished and unpublished) memoirs)

No such kind of thing call Just War for NO WAR is just nor can be justified, since it is a robbery, plunder, rape and murder in a large scale. How can those crimes can be just?

Thanks a lot Ben

Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.
-Albert Einstein

Peace is not a relationship of nations. It is a condition of mind brought about by a serenity of soul. Peace is not merely the absence of war. It is also a state of mind. Lasting peace can come only to peaceful people.
-Jawaharlal Nehru

Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace.

Thanks Ben.

We don't learn from history because we are actually a stupid species despite our thinking otherwise.

Kurt Vonnegut said it:
"Stupidity will be the end of us. Evil only flourishes when the people are too goddam dumb to do anything about it"

To SJ J - I agree with you except for one and only one situation: if my country is directly attacked by another country with the intend to invade its territory and take it over and/or steal its resources = take my homeland away from "me". I believe that even I would take up arms in such an extreme situation. That's the only somehow "just" war in my vocabulary. Any other situation can be solved through real diplomacy and sincere talks if one only has the true will and intent to do so.

But what is sold to us "commoneers" today as diplomacy is rather knee-jerking, blackmailing and outright threats of military actions if one doesn't comply with certain "wishes"!

I do not believe in "If you want peace, prepare for war" (Si vis pacem, para bellum) which today is the motto of so many army divisions in Europe and the US and supports the myth of "men" that in demonstrating strength one can deter wars in scaring everybody off.

I firmly believe in "If you want peace, agree to keep the peace" (Si vis pacem, para pactum). Which goes hand in hand with respecting each other and treating everybody on the same "eye level" - the way it should be!

Stay all safe!
