I think most of the country is in shock about this. Another O.J. miscarriage of justice. But remember what happened to him. Casey Anthony won't find many people friendly unless they want to exploit her. Poor little Caylee.

thanks for the forward barb. i told kathy this morning that i thought jurors were confused by the term 'reasonable doubt'. any doubt they could have had after hearing all of the evidence would not rise to the level of reasonable doubt. we need professional jurors or judge-only trials.

Thank you for all your kind words about Caylee. I have been sobbing non is amazing how much this little girl has affected the world.

Tuesday July 5, 2011, 3:38 pm
Am stunned, too. I guess unless a roomful of people see you commit murder and have it on videotape, there is "reasonable doubt"?? Hopefully, Casey Anthony does not benefit financially from this with a book/movie deal. That would be another crime.

Justice was not done at all for Caylee, I am so shocked that this jury only took 10 hours to look at this case, What more does a person with common sense need to know that Casey was out having a good time for 31 days and lied to everyone about where she was knowing all alone that she was dead, I also have lost all faith in our legal system and to let this woman walk away free really makes me mad, Rest in Peace Caylee.

Thank you for posting this Lindsey. Kathy C told me this morning. And ditto Carrie. Many of us remember the OJ trial, he was guilty as hell. And the Rodney King Case! Another pervision of Justice when you had on video. police officers beating a man with clubs lying on the ground. But Carrie is right. OJ is not having a real fun time at life anymore. There is another kind of justice - it's called public rejection. She won't care because she is bloody socieopath, but I can guarantee you those people do not end up well from everything I have read. Being her is punishment - hate to be inside her deadless soul.

I just got home from work to this horrible news. I am speechless and I am numb. Reasonable doubt?
Than someone please explain to me how a supposed drowning victim gets duct tape on their mouth.

Casey Anthony may have gotten away with murder, but she'll never be free. She better change her name and find a plastic surgeon and dye her hair, because she'll never have a day of peace again. And then she'll have to face the Universal Judge.

Where ever you are Caylee, you are loved Know that, and be at peace.

I saw the verdict on the news this afternoon, and pardon my French, but I have been PISSED ever since. Where's the justice for Caylee? That poor girl got murdered by her mother, who then lied about her whereabouts and partied the whole time! Justice system, my ASS! If there is any true justice in this world, then Caylee's mother will spend her remaining time in jail in "G-Pop" where she will be fair game for the other yardbirds, who know darn well what she's in there for (hey, it worked for Jeffrey Dahmer!). And if by some "miracle" she survives jail alive, then one can only hope she will be a pariah in the outside world the same way OJ was and still is. She deserves nothing more than to be shunned by society for her abominable crime since the legal system once again screwed the pooch. The Threefold Law will have a field day with her, and she deserves it! Unbefrickinlievable!

Today's my older daughter's ninth birthday. I'm going to give both my daughters extra hugs and thank the Goddess and the God they're both here, healthy, and wonderful additions to the family.

Noted.I realize everyone's very upset with the verdict, but when you take away all the sensationalism created by the media, I'm not surprised. The same thing happened during the OJ Simpson trial when he killed Nicole Simpson, Michael Jackson when he was being tried for child molestation.
All the evidence was circumstancial, the jury didn't believe the parents when they took the stand, so it was just a whole bunch of things that ended up with the jury handing in the not guilty verdict. I think the prosecutor in the case handled it poorly... they wanted the death penalty in play. If the death penalty had not been in play, nine chances out of ten, Casey Anthony would be heading to prison for a long, long right now.
I do believe Casey Anthony is guilty, but now that she's been tried and acquitted of capital charges, no matter what new evidence comes forward, they'll have one hell of a time trying her again.

Toni C (508)
Tuesday July 5, 2011, 4:52 pm
Catherine Turley, I agree with you 100%, and the other thing they should do is have closed court... all this sensationalism stirred up by the media is not helping justice to be served.

Constance F (418)
Tuesday July 5, 2011, 4:56 pm
You are absolutely right Toni. The only option being the death penalty is extremely problematic, that is just one more excellent reason to abolish the death penalty.

Patricia W (94)
Tuesday July 5, 2011, 5:26 pm
Toni, you are 100% correct on your take of this stinking situation.

I knew this would happen. I am not happy! She is guilty! Who would party like that after their child's death? Or being missing with a sitter or whatever? Now she has to deal with her dad that she horribly lied about! He was a cop and will not put up with her BS. She will not truly get away with this as stated by others look at OJ. Our justice system is broken and the jurors should be ashamed of themselves!

Debbie Hogan (115)
Tuesday July 5, 2011, 8:16 pm
If this poor child did, in fact, "accidentally drown", then who in their right mind would duct tape her mouth, drive her out to a swamp and dump her there? Why would you want to make an accident look like murder? Isn't it usually the other way round? This makes no sense to me whatsoever....and just why would a grieving mother not call whoever she could IMMEDIATELY upon seeing that her child had drowned? Why would she wait a frickin' month? Any way you slice it, this woman was totally irresponsible. Something really reeks here...

I too was shocked by the verdict. Couldn't believe my ears. We need better juries than this, more educated, more informed, unbiased. To reach a Not Guilty verdict in 10 short hours shows they didn't really comprehend what the prosecutors but forth. They believed the lies told by her Defense, whom I thought was a joke, constantly changing what really happened. Is this really what our courts have disolved into? A charade where the accused is so protected that guilty people get out of jail?

As for her family, they lied too. The only one I feel pity for is her father, who she threw under the bus. Her mom is a proven liar whom I wish they'd charge with perjury. Her brother lied, her mom lied, Casey lied. But....they are so disfunctional I think before we know it, they'll all be a "family" again and move on to whatever Casey has in store for them next time. May she be haunted by this for the rest of her life, never finding peace, never sleeping well, never really be happy, never, never, never.

A travesty of justice. I feel that it was accidental with chloroform since Casey wanted to party, But Casey deserved the aggravated manslaughter or Murder Two charge. The jurors wimped out because they just wanted to be done with the mess and go home.

i don't know where the heck this jury had their mind when they decided this verdict.
i don't know the woman however, all evidence shows she is not a good mother, she is very careless, selfish,
i sugest a psicholical evaluation. is she alright??? i don't think so, she must of done it out of anger or temporary insanity but something is not clear on this case. wake up america, be careful who you trust.

Frankly, I'm more disturbed by the reactions to the verdict. From what I'm hearing, if this was back in the Old West days, you would all be rounding up a lynching party for Casey. I'm amazed by all the people who weren't there and didn't sit through over a month of testimony and evidence, somehow think they know better than the 12 jurors who did. This is exactly why we have jury trials and expect a much higher degree of evidence than public opinion.

Yes, something tragic happened and there are unexplained circumstances and suspicious activity but proof of murder was lacking.

WTF!!!!!!!That is all that I can say to this.Almost all beliefs share the opinion that no one gets away with evil forever-"what goes around comes around" , "good karma-bad karma" , "you will reap what you sow" , ect......
Don't be upset people-she will get hers.I agree with not trusting the legal system to do justice-I stopped believing that a long time ago. This just solidifies it in my mind.

I have served on grand juries 3 times and I found the experience sobering and a little frightening. One of the juries refused to send women who confessed to selling drugs to trial because 'women don't sell drugs'. Two of the women were selling on a school playground during the children's lunch hour. A confessed murderer was not sent to trial because the jury didn't like the victim who was gay and, therefore, deserved to be murdered. I wnder if this jury preceives child abuse to be a 'man's crime' and a crime no mother can commit. There are very good reasons why non survivors are not allowed to attend Adult Survivors of Child Abuse meetings.

This world has gone to the dogs when a jury finds someone not guilty AFTER the little girl on the stand when asked "who shot you?" and she looked at her mother and started to cry and said "MY MOTHER." And she is not guilty? I have a bridge to sell anyone if they want it. I also think the Father of Casey had something to do with it too. When the verdict was being read, the parents got up very quickly and went out of the room. Enjoy the Angels Caylee, there is alot of people down here praying for you.

Casey was not found innocent - but found "not guilty" on the charges as presented. Now, I am as dumbfounded as the rest of the country - but - Casey has a lot of bad karma coming her way: 1) the real Zenaida Gonzales (sp) can file civil suit (get the monies Casey will get for a book. speaking, etc?) and EquiSearch needs to file BIG....defense clearly stated "Caylee wasn't missing...". Then why the hell were all those law enforcement personnel, concerned volunteers, EquiSearch...etc allowed/misled to continuing searching all of that time???? Apology for the spelling - I am saddened by the verdict.

It's O.J. Simpson 2.0. It has it all. An incompetent grandstanding judge; an idiot jury; incompetent prosecutors; and a defense witness who lied on the stand and perjured herself. The only thing missing is accusations that the police planted evidence.

Caylee, I am so sorry you did not get justice in this life. Casey, you may have gotten away with murder in this life. But you will pay for it before your soul has seen its final hours.

I don't know what happened to this child. None of us do. We can speculate all we want. Nancy grace is a strong tv personality and she speculates as best she can. She opinionates as best she can and she keeps us entertained and up in arms. She gets paid and keeps her show for the ratings. I am sure that if she gets her way she will have you all kill this girl because she thinks she is right. The entire story is crazy and none of us knows what did happen. May caylee rest in peace. there is alot of injustice that goes on on this earth. Many never known. So in the judgement that goes with that, will be what it will be. i would calm down if I were any of you. This family is destroyed.

Yes she got away with murder, but I believe her life is going to be miserable. Who is going to want to be her friend now. Everybody knows her. And do you think her parents are going to be happy with especially when she accused her father of molesting her. No, I think her life is going to be very unhappy (with any luck). If she makes a book deal out of this I hope nobody will buy it. O.J had money to live comfortable life but he ended up in prison. Casey has nothing (I hope).

I was a juror on a child endangerment case where the mother was so obviously at fault, but she got off on every account. Why? Because she was young and attractive and all of the men were drooling over her. I wonder if things would have been different had the child been a boy, or if it was the father who left her alone, at night, in a horrible neighborhood.

"This beautiful little girl was murdered by her mother. Now her mother got off scott free."
Since when are journalists judge and jury? 12 people, made their decision based on the evidence at trial. Those 12 had a lot more info than the rest of us did. What makes us think "Monday morning quarterbacking" is more accurate than the 12 jurors decision?

Wednesday July 6, 2011, 5:44 pm
We all know that she did it. The prosecution just didn't do enough to prove beyond a reasonable doubt how she was killed and who exactly did it. The defense just threw up smokescreens without any proof. Unfortunately, the prosecution just didn't do or couldn't do all that they needed to. It is a sad day, but that is how our justice system works.

I know I am in the minority here, but I say that whether or not Ms.Anthony did kill her daughter, the justice system worked exactly as it was meant to do. The jury was unable to conclude from the evidence and arguments that she was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. We frequently hear of individuals being exonerated of crimes for which they have been convicted because evidence was withheld, the prosecution was over-zealous, DNA evidence was never tested, witnesses lied, and many other reasons. No matter what one's personal opinion about any defendant, or public sentiment driven by the media and pundits, each defendant is entitled to a fair trail by jury which is something denied vast areas of the world. Our system is founded on the presumption of innocence, and therefore, that it is much better to allow a guilty person to go free than to have an innocent one to be convicted. The latter has happened much too often to be acceptable.

Has nobody here been on a jury? If you're not convinced BY THE EVIDENCE, then "reasonable doubt" exists and you MUST acquit! This is the very foundation of our legal system.

There was no physical evidence to connect the mother with the child! ZERO! ZIP! NONE! No surprise that the jury DID ITS JOB, FOLLOWED THE JUDGE'S INSTRUCTIONS and "found" her "not guilty."

Unlike the OJ Simpson jury (which had an agenda widely separated from the actual issues at hand) THIS jury couldn't find any physical evidence on which to convict this woman.

I'm very sorry for them.....very sorry.

I once served on a jury where we acquitted the man, even though each and every one of us believed he had committed the crime. The prosecution did a lousy job presenting their case....just like OJ's, by the way....and, in order to be honest....we had to let him go.

Difficult? Yes! cannot convict on emotion, "hunches" or pure suspicions.

I am sorry the little girl is dead. Personally, I never participated in the entire Media Hyped Cricus that did not in any way serve justice or the law only the veiwer ratings and profits of corproate media. And one must add it was a great and well timed distraction from the actual real problems America faces, from the Repug/Tea Bagged assault on the economy for political gain, the various assaults on the Old, the young, women and minorities in a dozen states or more as well as from DC. And Americans had damn well better wake up to the fact that than more than one American child a year is dead because of bullying, illegal guns, unaffordable healthcare, poverty and starvation in America.

I know i'm late on this one, but the news reported she wants to get pregnant or adopt! She supposedly said this to a cellmate.
If this woman makes one red cent of of any of this, I could be the next one facing a jury!

Whom ever is guilty of this crime will have to face their maker and will be judged appropriately in the end. R.I.P. Caylee. You are at peace and with the angels now. You will never be a forgotten angel.

I wonder why the Prosecution did not pull out all of the stops when the defense lawyer put forth all of those ridiculous, slanderous, nonsensical claims. The defense claimed that the Grandfather found Caylee in the pool drowned. Why not call 911 as is done in such cases, yet, instead, put duct tape over her face and take her out into the swamp? Any evidence that he actually abused Casey? Why not tromp all over those immoral tactics the defense lawyer and his client introduced?
By the way, people who do not care for their own children will NOT be OPENLY REVEALING this to their friends and others. The testimony that she displayed love for her daughter in public does not mean that she was not more interested in going out and having fun. She could not jeopardize her good standing by revealing that she wanted to be rid of her child to ANYONE, Psychopaths switch in a fraction of a second between threatening the life of their own children in front of only those children or also to the mothers, to being a normal loving father in front of anyone who happened to walk in. They are smart enough not to show who they truly are to those who support them, who they can gain something from. But, put them in the role of care giver, provider, and the inconvenience to them can mean death, or at least terror and abuse, to a dependent whom a normal parent would love.

While, this is an extremely sad situation for this little girl, children all around the world, die every day, due to neglect, intentional harm, or lack of adequate necessities.
Most of us may have an opinion, about the cause of her death, but we weren't in the courtroom and I, personally, would not want to think that we could become a country that rushes to judgement. That has been done in the past, with disastrous consequences.

Quite frankly, I blame the news media, for shoving this situation in our faces, day in and day out. They, in fact, worked the public into a frenzy amd unfortunately, the public, often, has NOT the intelligence, to think things through, before becoming judge and jury.

They should reopen the case, some good private investigators, also, there are some DNAs mentioned that haven't been put on the table, and as much as I watch the videos of this case, there are some people that look very weird to me, the eyes of those people tell many things are non said and I just hope this is not the end of the story, this must go on. the fact of movies and books to make the woman rich really sickens me to death. Instant Karma, please, come and get them.

any parent whose kid is missing for 30 days and doesn't call the police should be jailed for that alone, but blame the state, they should have sought charges they could get the evidence for. but please don't buy the books or see the movies you know will come

The murder of this child saddened me. The murder of all children saddens me. The evidence, as presented, did not warrant a guilty verdict on any of the charges filed. We cannot afford to take away the freedom of any individual based on emotionalism. It has to be based on factual information. The media shaped public opinion on this case. Nancy Grace and her vigilantism shaped public opinion. The burden of proof was on the prosecutors. They failed to prove their case. Though I agree that the mother was negligent, a master manipulator and a fantastic liar, it doesn't prove that she murdered her child. While the media had people riveted tot heir televisions watching this case, what else was happening in the world that they wanted us to ignore???

What a precious little girl!

If Mamma didn't want her, why not put her up for adoption.

Such a sweet child would have been quickly welcomed into a good home.

Heard on the news (I personally think the psycho is just trying to make us crazier) that she is thinking about adopting. As if ANY agency would let that low life adopt:(

I think she was guilty because of her actions, but that is not proof beyond a reasonable doubt. The death penalty was on the table and the jury did not want to take the chance of putting her to death for a opinion that is NOT backed by facts. I don't blame them. They did not want to be murderers. I wish there had been more evidence, but there was not. There needs to be Caylee's Law and Casey should be sued for claiming that her daughter was missing and for blaming an innocent woman for a kidnapping that did not occur. She no longer has any of her old friends and I am sure her family is not happy with her. God has a plan and it is not for us to question what his/her plan is. One person's hell is not hell for another. So who knows what her Karma will bring her... PLUS That Nancy Grace woman is awful! She harps on only a few cases and does not focus on the real problems, and she is partly to blame for Casey being found "not guilty"! There are I don't even know how many kids that go missing and she seems to only focus on the pretty white kids. Why not other children? If she wants to focus on cute kids there are plenty of adorable kids of other races missing and it should be just missing children PERIOD! I hate Nancy Grace! She is just so full of it! There are kids kidnapped into other countries and all sorts of other crimes she could talk about instead of just a small handful! She should talk about different cases every couple minutes instead of one for hours! That is a little crazy! It gets to the point that I feel like she is making things up and repeating over and over like she has OCD.

The U.S Supreme Court: Try Casey Anthony in Federal Court
If this case is brought before the Federal court it will be an exception to double jeopardy and from the moment Casey Anthony lied to the FBI she was in violation of The Martha Stewart law. This is a federal offense and comes with a 5 year sentence for each count. First Degree Murder is also a federal offense! Please we must not let this crime go unpunished. An injustice was committed on July 15th. Sign this petition and give Caylee the justice she deserves.
Find this petition @
Caylee’s Law should reach 1 million signatures by the end of the weekend and with your help taking Casey Anthony to Federal Court will be possible!!!
And if you have not yet signed the petition for Caylee's law, please do!! @

Thanks Andrea. I signed a couple Caylee petitions on and a few more unrelated.
I hate to blame the jurors as I have never been picked to be on a jury, so I do not know what it is like, BUT I just saw an interview with a bunch of the Peterson jurors. They were PISSED at the Casey Anthony jurors. They said they did not look hard enough at the evidence and the lies and a lousy 10 hours was not enough time to look at all of the evidence properly. I wanted to be fair. I have always thought she was guilty of something! At first before poor Caylee was found I thought Casey had SOLD poor Caylee. I never questioned if Casey was involved, I only questioned what happened. I understand there was never HARD evidence, but there was a lot of lies and other BS and there was SOME evidence. The online searches, the tape over Caylee's mouth, and the partying like she was happy the girl was gone. I could see if there were pics of Casey crying at the bar and they thought it was an accident, but not hot body contests! I know there was not any HARD evidence as many things were debatable. I understand the not wanting to sentence anyone to death. Maybe that should have been one of the choices for the jurors if they thought she should die, and I do think it is harder to sentence a woman and mother (mother is debatable) to death than it is a man who killed his pregnant wife and child... If feel so torn! At first I was pissed at the jurors then I hear one talk about how hard it was and they all cried and then I softened, then I heard the Peterson jurors... I guess it's my nature to look at the bright side and not judge, but it's my instincts and common sense that Casey killed her daughter. I do still stand by that God/Goddess has a plan for Casey. I still believe that Karma will be served! I have to. It's what keeps me happy and sane and not depressed about the world we live in.
