When John Benton tried to leave for work one morning back in July, he was surprised to find the family pit bull, Titan, running around in circles, barking and blocking the door out of the house, CBS Atlanta reported.

Pit bulls get a bad rap, which is really unfair. They do what they ae trained to do.The ones that I have seen were very sweet natured.

It isn't the breed of an animal. It's how people treat them.
You have to give love to get love.

A dog knows where his food comes from and can smell when something goes wrong with the humans who are his pack alphas. The dog was raised right and protected his pack; it's why humans took up with and bred that wolf pack 20 millennia or more ago. Ban breed specific regulation; institute something criminalising abuse of dogs for purpose of fighting.

Bless Titan and his owners too. Wonderful story. Pits are not all bad, but they are tenacious and need to be trained, with love and compassion, of course!

Well, it's about time a pit got good press on TV. I wish this was on national TV instead of just local.

Great story; good to know it had a happy ending. Yes, I've always believed it is the owner, not the dog, no matter the breed. It's true some dogs have mental problems, usually caused by inbreeding and poor diet, and most are discovered early on by responsible care givers. I have read that more people are bitten by Cocker Spaniels than any other breed, but almost every breed has been involved in the death of a human at one time or another. If we would stop breeding for specific characteristics, then maybe we wouldn't have so many problem owners.

I heard back in the 30's the Pit Bull was the most popular family dog in America. Everyone is right, it's not the dogs fault but the owner. Everyone who owns a 'dangerous' breed should have to register the dog with the police department and if they don't, they would have to pay a very heavy fine - in the thousands, and do jail time. I think everyone who loves their dog will gladly do this. Those that have no business owning one of these breeds will eventually get in trouble with the law and have to pay the fine and go to jail.
