" Wonderful " indeed, how humankind -- utterly unable to feed the huntry OR house the homeless OR do much do alleviate the impending environmental holocaust -- has plenty enough (&more than ever) to spend on the 'real essential' things, like poisoning the environment further with pyrotechnics ...

Happy environmental Holocaust !
Keep dancing ! Titanic is unsinkable !!

ceterum censeo: The "New Near" of the gregorian calender --copied from older Roman calender(s), probably marking the start of a session-period in the Roman Senate!-- seems totally arbitrary nowadays; imho this alone is sufficient reason for replacing "pope gregor's" calendar by something more sensible; the chauvinism of using the alleged birthyear of a mythical figure another sufficient reason.

I watched the big G.E. Light Bulbs Ball drop in NYC last night hosted by Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest!! They showed how different cultures around the world celebrate the coming of the New Year!! Thanks for posting Lindsey and HAPPY NEW 2012!!! xxx

I watched the ball drop last night too. All I have to say is that Justin Bieber singing The Beatles "Let It Be" was a god awful atrocity. I am sure John Lennon was looking down just gagging. Only certain people should deserve the right to cover such a beautiful song and he butchered it. Sorry...this is coming from a die hard Beatle fan. Had to get that out. Having Bieber sing it was a living nightmare. But I love the pictures of the fireworks from around the world. I am glad you like them. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

They were Beautiful But the best pyrotecnics in all the world come out of China. I was in Shanghi 2 years ago for the Chinese new year and on the 127Th floor with a window seat built in to the window and watched the big boys being set off in all the streets. So pwerful and they went on like this for days. These folks know their fireworks!

I don't watch any of the crap on tv. People spending far too much money in fact money they don't even have! Getting snott hanging drunk, picking fights, you have probably made a resolution that will be broken shortly there after. Who knows, some may even spend time in the drunk tank!! Now there's a memorable new year. Do you have any idea how much money Justin Bieber makes just to make an appearance (doesn't matter if he was good or bad)?
Don't ya think, instead of the governments around the wourld should spend their money, that they use on their usual firework displays, to wow the people, that this money would wow the people even more and probably generate alot more votes if it was used towards the hungry, the ever increasing senior population, the homeless, the disabled! The list is endless!
I believe New years is about reflection, improvement, lending a hand ,and being genuine. I make no resolutions, I just try to get by because life is already a struggle.

Thank you - but do we really need to blow so much money into fireworks - I am sure that every city in the world could spend it where it is really needed.
