Travelling circuses will be banned from using wild animals in their shows, the government has announced. Ministers unveiled plans on Thursday to outlaw the "outdated" practice through new legislation at the "earliest opportunity".A tough licensing reg..

That ban is not in place yet so there is nothing great about that! If true it could take years before it takes effect! And if it goes into effect it could take many more years before they start freeing these poor animals and more years before they are all free! Victory will be when there is no more animals imprisoned and tortured in circuses, not before!

i am very optimistic about this. when one circus is finally banned from using wild animals, others take notice and hopefully follow through. thank you, lindsey.

It is, indeed, outdated and should most definately be banned...but as I'm sure is happening in the U.S with Ringling Brothers, the government will very likely bend to pressure from those who will insist upon keeping animals in their act. Like the man says in the article, "I'll believe it when I see it."

It was exciting until I read the whole I am skeptical...but at least there are no more elephants being used in the UK. They said 95% of the UK population is against the use of animals in circuses so you would think the circuses wouldn't get any business and they would have to stop on their own.
