There you can see what "all of the above" looks like. What a shame...

The problem with "all of the above" is the coal, the natural gas, the oil, and the tar sands. The President's plan has way too much drilling and fracking and implies approval of the KXL. The continued use of fossil fuels guarantees that we will not survive climate change. Given the extreme level of threat that climate change represents to all life on this planet, we cannot afford to leave any form of alternative energy off of the table. Noted.

Brian- one look at Fukushima and its consequences make pretty clear the extreme level of threat that nuke energy represents to all life on this planet before long, how can you disagree with that?
Given the large choice of clean alternative energy sources that already exists, I think it's fair to say this one source, dirty as well, can and should be left off the table. Or do you have a solution where to put all the contaminated waste ?

O, what a surprise! The uncontendedly most-AUTHORITARIAN technics(*) ever invented on Terra, made possible only by unprecendented state-interventions and "the mother of all subsidies." wants --and has the means to rake in-- more subsidies !

*) sensu Mumford, who (in "Technics and Civilization" 1934(!)) coined the term 'TECHNICS' to describe the interplay of technologies with the specific social circumstances they arise from and lead to.
And (in a slightly updated definition by Derrick Jensen:) a DEMOCRATIC technics would be one that emerges from, gives rise to, and reinforces community self-reliance and self-determination; and an AUTHORITARIAN technics would be one that emerges from, gives rise to, reinforces, and often requires community reliance on distant authorities, and undercuts or makes impossible community self-reliance and self-determination.
A prime example for a democratic technics would be *passive* solar (whereas PV is already halfway to authoritarian, again)

" To ever get free from all the oppressions and wrongs heaped upon us, we must pay for their removal. We must do this by labor, by suffering, by sacrifice, and, if needs be, by our lives, and the lives of others. " -- Frederick Douglass (1818-1895)
