The Islamic State is no mere collection of psychopaths. It is a religious group with carefully considered beliefs, among them that it is a key agent of the coming apocalypse. HereâEUR(TM)s what that means for its strategyâEUR"and for how to stop it.

One of the last verses written in what has survived as the Qur'an (it isn't written in chronological order) is "Kill unbelievers wherever you find them...". And the moslem god commands them to cut off their heads and even their fingertips. This verse abrogates 113 earlier verses les hateful.

This is not a god of love, nor is Islam a religion of peace in any way. And these jihadist Islamic state barbarians are not extremists at all, but they are true believing Muslims following in the example of muhammad himself, who proudly proclaimed "I have been made victorious with terror".

It's time that we stopped lowering the bar for civilized behavior for this one ideology and start to demand that Islam reforms and becomes a more civilized thing.

Thank you very much for sharing.

A very good insight into these horrible people. - Unfortunately religions are open to interpretation and the Islamic State chose one that is simply repelling. Yet, we should really know what we are dealing with and this article gives us some basics.

At least no deception and euphemisms for the benefit of the bleeding heart liberals; its quite straight forward and follows the goals of Mohammed. It will of course appeal to many young Muslims and even to a number of westerners drawn to its "all conquering" motives. We will now find loads of our anti-West,anti-Jew crowd on Care2 and elsewhere attempting to read their optimistic projections into these statements and or rubbishing the sources.

Just one point though in the above leader paragraph "The Islamic State is no mere collection of psychopaths. It is a religious group with carefully considered beliefs" - historical evidence indicates that psychopaths ARE very often drawn to creating and following ideological groups be they religious or otherwise!

You state... Unfortunately religions are open to interpretation and the Islamic State chose one that is simply repelling.

Where mohammedans are concerned -- as long as they emulate mohammeds behaviour as the best example for mankind thats first rate to the mohammedan mind - and so it seems isis follows very closely the teachings and example of mohammed
Never forget mohammed was a thief who had people tortured to reveal where the loot was hidden,he also had people murdered because they disagreed with him,he also authorised rape of captive women --- really the list is endless and when you think nothing has altered in 1400 years, don't hold your breath for change .

Muslims from around Denmark are coming to honor 22-year-old Omar Abdel Hamid El-Hussein at the location where he died in a shoot-out with police. They are hailing the Muslim terrorist that murdered 2 Danish citizens and severely wounded 5 police officers, as a hero...leaving flowers and messages of support for his actions. El-Hussein is the first Muslim terrorist responsible for the murder of one person at the Copenhagen Freedom of Speech Conference, before murdering a Jewish man at Copenhagen's Main Synagogue. Five police officers were also seriously injured, three at the conference and two guarding the Synagogue.

Since the very beginning, I've said these barbarians intend to drag us all back into the "dark ages." That kind of power (based on fear) over men AND ESPECIALLY WOMEN is very attractive to religious fanatics.

However....until the rest of Islam rises up and smashes them....I believe there's nothing effective the western world can do. It MUST be an Islamic-led movement or we'll just encourage their rabble-rousing.

It is a GOOD article. I thought it was rather informative and felt it needed to be shared with as many people as possible.

The talk-radio host, Roger (?), thought it needed to be shared. He read major sections of the article on the air so his listeners would be on the same page in understanding ISIS and TRUE Islam.

He also explained the appeal there was to young Muslim youths. This is why many Muslim parents are scared to lose their children to this possible apocalyptic war. This war is very much like the beginning of WWII. Remember, in 1938, counties like Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia were taken over by Hitler before WWII officially began.

There are many Western-society-reared youth dead from fighting with ISIS. The bodies are piling up and their Western host countries will not cover the costs of shipping their bodies back to their parents. Many Western Muslims parents are suffering from a lack of peace and freedom from this current Muslim escapade. These youths are volunteering for the roles of janissaries, a military status created by an annual first-born son child tax, as well as the raiding and kidnapping of very young boys of conquered lands.

We also have Christians from Western societies volunteering to fight with the Christians and non-Muslim forces. They are also drawn to this apocalyptic war.

“… What is troubling is the large number of foreign and even homegrown radicals who are scattered like weeds in a garden, waiting to grow strong and choke out the lives of surrounding Americans.
Current estimates show that there are more than 8 million Muslims in the United States, due to immigration, a high birthrate, and an astounding conversion rate. According to one report, more than 200,000 individuals convert to Islam in America each year. According to projections, the Shi’ite demographic, the more radical group of Muslims, comprises approximately 1.8 million of the 8 million large US community of Muslims.”

“The following is a straightforward and accurate description of the plan of Islam according to Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, one of the most influential theologians and Islamic thinkers of the twentieth century:
Islam wishes to destroy all states and governments anywhere on the face of the earth which are opposed to the ideology and program of Islam regardless of the country or the nation which rules it. The purpose of Islam is to set up a state on the basis of its own ideology and programme, regardless which nation assumes the role of the standard bearer of Islam or the rule of which nation is undermined in the process of the establishment of an ideological Islamic state. It must be evident to you from this discussion that the objective of Islamic jihad is to eliminate the rule of an un-Islamic system and establish in its stead an Islamic system of state rule. Islam does not intend to confine this revolution to a single state or a few countries; the aim of Islam is to bring about a universal revolution.”
—Nonie Darwish, an Egyptian-born ex-Muslim of an Egyptian Islamic “martyr” and author of the book, Cruel and Usual Punishment

“… Consider the words of Omar Ahmad, cofounder of the Washington DC-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR):
If you choose to live here (in America) … you have a responsibility to deliver the message of Islam. … Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. … The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.”
—Nonie Darwish, an Egyptian-born ex-Muslim of an Egyptian Islamic “martyr” and author of the book, Cruel and Usual Punishment

‘The ultimate goal of jihad is not to Islamize per se but rather to enforce Sharia. Islamic theologian Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi believed that a Muslim society cannot be Islamic without Sharia law. As he explained in Islamic Law and Its Introduction: “If an Islamic society consciously resolves not to accept the Sharia, and decides to enact its own constitution and laws or borrow them from any other source in disregard of the Sharia, such a society breaks its contract with God and forfeits its right to be called Islamic.’”
The ultimate goal of Islam is not simply to convert people to follow the religion of Islam; it is to establish Sharia law over the entire world. It is nothing less than the achievement of totalitarian power and subjugation of humanity to the most brutal set of laws of enslavement, and to Arabize world culture, laws, and politics.
Islam does not urge Muslims to have a personal relationship with Allah, but instead it seeks to bring back laws of medieval cruelty that take away the dignity of the human spirit and suck dry the very soul of freedom.’
—Nonie Darwish, an Egyptian-born ex-Muslim of an Egyptian Islamic “martyr” and author of the book, Cruel and Usual Punishment

@ Shil O.
They got you exactly where they want you to.
Please, get your facts straight. Followers of Mohammed are Muslims (like followers of Jesus are Christians, not Jesuits).
Read the texts. Most parts are very cryptic and leave room for speculation on all levels. Which is also true for the bible, if you ever checked. And that's exactly the reason why religions vary in itself so very much.
Also, we should give some room here, as most muslims are certainly not agreeing with anything the IS does. But in condemning them along with the IS we are pushing them right there.

I think the real issue is, why so many people are attracted by the IS, even "westerners" are gladly joining that crowd. - Obviously they have trouble with the dominant governing forces and since Mr Bush elected Islam as the new enemy (the axis of evil) - the old being the former socialist states - that is the place to be to challenge the majority.

I agree, that we have to take a firm stand against IS, but we have to realise what motivates them and act accordingly. Simply hating back won't help a bit (look at the Taliban).

Perilous times are upon us. ISIS is a regime of absolute conformance, attracting weak-minded people to blindly follow the path of an utterly psychotic ideology. I believe there are great demonic powers at work to usher in a realm of evil never before seen on earth, who's purpose is to wipe out all religions except theirs. This is futile, but will indeed continue to cause cataclysmic destruction.

Nut jobs are nut jobs, regardless of what religion they profess. Nut jobs of this variety are an absolute danger to civilization, to humanity, to the planet. What worries me is they may stir up Christians to start attacking Muslims, which will lead to revenge attacks, which will lead to an eye for an eye endlessly - while "infidels" who reject both faiths are caught in the crossfire. Let us hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

So, they wanna rumble at Dabiq? I say give 'em their so-called final battle - and whip their asses from hell to breakfast by way of Grandma's condo. Maybe if the Islamic State suffered a humiliating loss to "Rome," that will take the proverbial wind out of their proverbial sails. Or maybe they'll decide "Hey, it ain't quite time, so we'll try again later." Like all the bugnuts who predict the Rapture.

Came back to the article several times today. TY Ms NC...I conquer with Jeffrey's comments regarding the attraction of the weak-minded (and perhaps the goal-vacant). I also have the gnawing reminders (as Justin alluded) to opening a door that should have been left untouched due to GREED and LIES...I hope the fantasy of reward and sacrifice wears off those who may come to their senses and escape and/or have a change of heart and mind before joining forces with the fragmented, various groups. I'm with Ben as I have trouble understanding a barbaric mentality...then I think of US atrocities and decisions and feel ashamed.

With the help of the global media, ngos and whistle blowers, hopes for peace are still in my heart...

What religion is clean? Look at the bible and what happened to Jesus. It's about terror and keeping the populace under control. That's why I shy away from organized religion and I'm not the least bit concerned about what will happen to me after I'm dead. But, clearly, ISIS has signaled its intent so we have been put on notice. The question for America is will we wait until we are strongly attacked or will we step up our game and get rid of them. I'm am all for live and let live but not when war has been declared on you and I feel that's the case here. At the rate humans are reproducing and raping the earth, we are in the end days. We can only hope for asteroid as it would faster.

Justin: "how many people here know that part of isis' agenda is a free kurdistan".

ISIS cannot be for a free Kurdistan - they are against any borders.

Kurds are fighting them because Kurds are likely to be considered infidels by ISIS. Example of Yazidis explained to Kurds, that if they lose their battle with ISIS, their children will be sold, women raped and men burnt.

A battle at Dabiq is a great idea, but Obama is not up to the task.

Gadzooks Justin Zionists are behind every bush and take care or they will climb up your leg and modify your cringsblock causing a major malfunction in the left hand whirligig. Meanwhile the kurds will creep out of the woodwork and enter your cranium through your left nostril and bliggenstoop your central tranticle. Tape up the bottom of your pants and for goodness sake stop breathing unless through an alien filter made of ganga weed!

good article I will still have to reread it to further understand. Any fanaticism or radicalism can become very dangerous. There certainly are many weeds planted in secret gardens it seems, which if fed enough psychosis will bring about an apocalypse of ultimate terror. The terror has already been shown and done and appears to be the tip of an iceberg
