As the commercial lobster season gets under way Thursday, Keys fishermen are gloomy about their prospects: Low demand during the recession has led to plummeting prices for what many consider a luxury treat.

I'm glad the prices dropped. I think it's funny. What happens to these poor lobsters is horrific. Thanks Raffi.

i hope the market keeps dropping. lobsters are killed so cruely.

have you ever seen a lobster dropped into boiling water alive? have you heard it scream and claw at the lid of the pan trying to escape the boiling water? I HAVE SEEN THEM CLAWING TO GET FREE AND HEARD THIER SCREAMS AND IT IS HORRIFIC. IT IS CRUEL AND BARBARIC.

I need to check to see if the retail price is down. Lobster is one of my favorites. Haven't had one since Feb.

Once again, I am glad I am a vegetarian. Lobsters belong in the sea, they are a vital part of the ecosystem in which they are found.
