Police: Woman Who Drove Off Parking Deck Said She Was Avoiding Squirrel

Posted: 3:33 pm EDT September 8, 2009
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A woman who drove off the edge of a parking deck in south Charlotte told police she doesn’t know how she got there, police reports state.

Amber Kendrick told officers she was driving from a reception in uptown Saturday night when she swerved to avoid hitting a squirrel. She said she flipped her car and was knocked unconscious.

She woke up about two hours later and had fallen 10 feet from the top of a parking deck off of Park South Road. She was not seriously hurt.

Police said when the investigating officer told Kendrick she wasn’t on a road but had backed off the top level of a parking deck near SouthPark Mall, she was unable to say how she got to the deck or why she went there.

Police said she may have been intoxicated at the time, but they are still waiting on toxicology results.

Hmmmm.... this was at night? What kind of squirrel was it? I have never seen a squirrel out after dark, nor have I ever known of anyone else seeing one after dark either....
Thanks Raffi.

I one swerved to avoid a squirrel crossing too. Unfortunately, the car behind me hit it. I was so upset! :-(

I think she had too much of the "wine and dine juice" and now blame the squirrel. Maybe it was a "Liquor squirrel"
